Description
A spark ignites
the parched, unguarded prairie,
licking up the grass with red-hot tongues
jumping the creeks and vaulting over fireguards --
consuming the houses with its passion.
In the fireplace,
the same spark lights to warmth
and power, comfort and sustenance.
Banked to embers, at night,
there is always that potential.
That spark, in me, is my love
and desire for you, burning
gently as the hearth-fire,
exuberant as the prairie fire.
It warms my heart.
