Description Not sure why I'm on a horse kick recently, I'm not really a "horse person" I do need to get better at drawing and shading mechanical things, though, so here's a revamped design for my steampunk pone Automaton. Auto is a steam-powered war machine left behind after a massive hit to his chest damaged his internal workings, crippling him. Since then, he's just sorta been wandering, looking for a new purpose.

How often does he need to eat or drink

Dunno exactly, but I imagine he could go maybe two or three days without fuel if he stocked up beforehand, otherwise he'd probably try to "eat" at least once a day.

Isee where does he store spare fuel and how does he get it from his mouth to where in needs to be stored or used

I don't have his internal workings completely figured out, I'm not that knowledgeable about engineering or steam power, but since it's roughly modeled off a real animal's internals, he's likely got compartments in his "stomach" to hold fuel or water prior to burning it.

As for how he eats, flexible rubber tubes running through his neck from head to belly.

Why so interested?

Does He produce any waste material and if he doeshow does he dispose of it or store it

Nope, he doesn't crap : P His only "waste" is the steam and smoke he expels. I suppose maybe he'd need to dump the ash out of his burner every couple of months as well, which would probably just involve a compartment on his barrel opening to let it fall out.

I see how does he move fuel from storage to his boiler for burning

He's likely got an internal mechanism for that connecting the two compartments. His storage/"stomach" and his boiler would be right up next to eachother, so it'd just be a matter of flicking open a hatch and tipping his fuel into the furnace.

I see does he do that automatically or does he have to make it happen

It's probably an automatic thing, like breathing is for us.

I see does he ever require oil

FennecFyre In reply to bryanriley [2018-03-31 16:57:02 +0000 UTC]

As a war-horse, he likely did require oil to keep his joints working in the high-stress, high-movement environment of the battlefield. Nowadays he doesn't really have access to that, so he's slowed up quite a bit.

I see does he not store a quantity of oil internally and how does he receive fresh oil

I really like the idea of the mane made out of steam, good job. It'd be cool if the eye was also a burning yellow colour from the engines.

I did consider that, although there is at least an explanation for his green eyes. Those are semi-opaque glass plates, and through them you'd be able to see his "brain", which is basically a big ol' magitech crystal-lump-thing. His boiler is down in his chest, with the steam being piped through his body.

That is a really cool-looking beast, reminds me a bit of the Hearthsteed from World of Warcraft.
