Description Inspired by mixed media artist Ann Baldwin. For this piece (about 40 x 40 cm boxed canvas) I used acrylics, decorative paper, pieces of curtain and blind textile, modelling paste & shaper, handmade & brass stenciling, an old shoe lace and ribbon embroidery (for the edges which are not shown here). I've submitted it for a local exhibition and hopefully it will be accepted!

OH, and I guess, now that I look at it again, they fell asleep whilst lying in bed together reading a book together? The book is between them.. and we also see the words superimposed upon her torso, as though we could see inside her, see what is rattling around in her, perhaps in her dreamscape?

I think this is really lovely. I see a man't torso on the left and a womans on the right. The shoe lace forms part of her breast. They appear to be cuddling and she has her arm across his chest. Is that the intention, or is it abstract and that is just what I see. Anyway, I like this very much. So well blended, so interesting. I would like to do something like this myself. I like mixed media with colored pencil, pastel, pen and ink, Copic markers and airbrush, gold leaf pen etc. I also like collage. This mixed media you have done seems like a combinaton of colage, painting and sculpture on canvas. I dig it! Congratulations on a wonderful piece!

Wow, thank you sooo much for the wonderful feedback! You've made my day. This piece was intended as abstract and I didn't have a plan beforehand, apart from the collected materials and textures I wanted to use, the colours and tone. While I was building each layer, it just emerged. The hardest part was to get the right composition, so it was a good exercise! The great thing about abstract is, is that people can see whatever it is they want to see in it. I love your description of a man and woman. I now look at it in a completely different way, so thanks for that!

I love this Fen. So organic. This reminds me of story telling. Looks like pages from a book and they are all connected with the lace.
