I could be wrong but that looks like bubble wrap at the bottom of the piece.

Overall I really enjoy this painting, the color choices work well especially to create the depth through the horizon line. I do enjoy the texture though I wonder if it wasn't over used, I think for me that it would have been stronger had it just been used in the bottom portion, and then more scarce in the upper portion. I think that it looses the pop that it could have since the whole painting is overall the same texture. I also kind of feel a disjoint still between the top and the bottom of the painting.

nope not bubble wrap--its paint that was peeled out of paint tray for a roller setup...
