Description red-headed girl, there she goes
red-blooded like american pie
juicy like a strawberry
yet spicy as a chili pepper
but she's no red-light district girl

she goes on her way, painting the town red
bringing the boys to a stop
got the sirens going
sizzling like a firebrand
but the fire in her heart has gone out

"roses are red, violets are blue"
to her, that's nothing new
clicking her ruby heels together
she's out of reach like a balloon
and you're left burning with desire

she'll have you seeing red
winning the hearts of others
while you're left behind like a clearance sale
and realization hits you like a brick wall
she's not your girl anymore.

Very nice the repetition and relating everything to red and the various associations with it is magnificent. The images are great and the tone well set, the flow is nice and makes it sound natural for the most part.

thank you!

I was literally seeing red that day, hence the reasoning behind why I wrote it.

Wow! "sizzling like a firebrand" I like the voice of this poem. It turns from hot, passionate, confident, then sticks the knife in. I would not want to be on the receiving end of this subcubbus' ire. ^^ Wonderful!

thanks for the wonderful comments. it's interesting to see how the guys go "gulp" and the girls go "yeah!" at this.

Gotcha. *smacks side of head, puts big "L" on forehead* You can't get good help nowadays. I'm confused most of the time, sort of like being blissfully ignorant, only more disturbing. Know enough to get myself in trouble and be frustrated when I know I should have a grip on something... ^^

"Somebody once told me the world is gonna roll me
I ain't the sharpest tool in the shed
She was looking kind of dumb with her finger and her thumb
In the shape of an "L" on her forehead"

i'm just amuzed and blizzfully unawares right now.

I meant the passion you pour into what I've read so far. Definitely not like reading Maya Angelou (probably on of the most trite and overrated poets, every) or another sap. You have a good head for flow and words. Just being a little appreciative...sheesh give a guy a break ^^

sorry sorry sorry!

i'm going to pass out..i've had an extremely long and interesting and complicated day...

i think a new rule should be "never wish me luck on anything again, cuz bad things seem to happen"...to put it short, the morning got off to a bit of a rush, then the key got stuck in the lock of my trunk and wouldn't come out. same key used to lock my doors. so i had to drive to the dealership, grab a ride back on the shuttle, race upstairs to the studio, do the shoot, do my hair/makeup, do my partner's hair/makeup, she shot me, then i changed the lighting set up and i shot her, and ugh. i'm surprised we got everything done in time with time to spare.

*kicks the car* it seems to like to throw me for a strange loop when i least want it to!

No prob. I wonder what the photographic equivalent to "break a leg" it then? Maybe someting like "I hope your tripod doesn't squeak while trying to take disasterously close photos of large wild animals"? Hmm. *wonders* Maybe not. Sorry for the jinx.

Get a great night of sleep and dream of anything but cars! ^^

you weren't the only one...there were a few other people too! i'm just starting to notice it...

i think it all started when slava said to me "don't break your ankle today on the ice" and i did.

feelgoodthing In reply to Mirrormere [2006-05-03 03:06:09 +0000 UTC]

that is very true. I wonder what it will be. Hmm... I consider myself pretty lucky, as long as I think about all the things that can go wrong...but everytime I hope for the best or whatever, then things go wrong.

Hmm, maybe it has to do with my expectations...nah. oh well.

I'm very optimistic, but I don't lead myself on...often. I try to live in the moment, respect the past, and not get too far ahead of myself. And I never assume anything, that's when life just likes to bitchslap ya!

I am usually very lucky but that's because I don't harp on it and I don't let myself expect a positive outcome...of course I always hope. ^^

the problem is where we learn to separate hope versus wanting versus wishing.

unfortunately, it gets sticky.

I've been trying to live in the moment myself too...especially since I feel like I've had a 2nd chance to relive my freshman year all over again, but without all the drama that comes with it.

it sucks doesn't it. although i like it better this time around, but there's just something about the naivete and the innocence of it all that's not quite there the 2nd time around.
