Description Another homage to one of the tales by H.P. Lovecraft I love most, "The Shadow Over Innsmouth". This work is featured in "Lovecraft Black & White" [link] , an art-book containing several works by various international artists. The book is published by "Dagon Press". This illustration means much to me, so I hope you'll like it.

Ink on paper.

Amazing work of course! The only thing that puts me off a bit is the light of the lantern. It's like a bright circle rather than an actual light source where the brightness of the light decreases further away from the source. It became even more of a circle because you darkened the houses near the edge of the light to get a higher contrast. But regardless, this is some amazing ink work.

Thanks so much for faving and commenting, man! I thought about giving a more realistic look to the light of the lantern, but in the end I looked at the moon on the background and I thought it should have been fun to create another "fake moon" using the lantern, as a quote to some unreal and fantasy illustrations I think I have in my personal inspiration background. I understand your point of view as well, and maybe a more realistic look should have made a beautiful effect too... anyway, thanks again for letting me know what you think!

Another stunning piece of work, love the shading and the twisted angles and the haunting surrealism (which, of course, is helped by the fact that there a ton of fish...fish make most anything just that little bit odd...) The Shadow Over Innsmouth is also one of my favorite Lovecraft stories, BTW. Favorited this, of course...
