Description
The wooden door swung open.
"I'm home." You call out.
Your heartwarming call was greeted with silence, the exception of the creaks on the floorboard below.
"Hello? Levi? Emilia?" You wandered through the first floor corridor, searching for signs of husband and daughter.
"I guess they went out." You mutter.
Reaching the kitchen, you place the giant brown bag of bread, milk, and fruit on the white counter top.
Carefully, you place each grocery in their respective place in the house.
"What am I going to make for lunch today...?"
"Mommy! Mommy!"
The thumping of small feet echoed off the floor and walls.
You spun around.
"Emilia? What's wrong?" You ask, voice rising in worry.
"Mommy, I know what I want to be when I grow up!"
A small smile tugs your lips. "Really?"
Emilia nodded enthusiastically.
"Well, what is it?"
"Come with me, mommy. I'll show you!"
Her tiny hand intertwines with yours, and she drags you from the kitchen.
"Emilia, where are we going?"
"To my room!" She squeaks.
"Why?"
"It's a surprise!"
You trip once or twice over the stairs as you continue to let yourself be dragged by your 3 year old.
"We're here, mommy!"
"I see."
"Come inside!" Emilia stands on her toes as she reaches and turns the knob, the wooden door creaking wide open to reveal a sight you never imagined you would see in your entire life.
"L...Levi?" You tilt your head in confusion.
Your husband sat square in a chair, looking quite upset.
"Don't speak of this again." He threatened.
"What..happened?"
"She happened." He gives an accusing stare to the tiny girl laughing on his lap.
Levi had been drenched in what you believe was your makeup- pink eye shadow, purple eyeliner, blood red lipstick, peach blush, and his wrists adorned with your gold bracelets. Even his nails were painted;each a different color: Red, yellow, blue, green...the colors of the rainbow. His hair was even tied into a ponytail with a pink ribbon.
Your body began to shake.
"Doesn't Daddy look amazing, Mommy?" Emilia blinked her innocent eyes.
"Yes...gorgeous." You bent over and covered your mouth, preventing anything from slipping out.
"Shut up." You heard Levi hiss.
"Mommy, someday I'm going to make the world a pretty place!"
"R-really?" You forced between snickers.
"Mhm! I'll bring out the world's inner beauty, and make it look really really pretty!"
"I'm..p-proud of you, sweetie."
"It was all thanks to Daddy, too!" She looked towards her father, highly satisfied with her work.
It was then your snickers exploded into loud laughter.
"What the hell is so funny?"
"Y-you...your face!"
"Shut up if you want to live, idiot."
"You look so h-handsome! Oh my goodness!" You doubled over in laughter, clutching your stomach as you fell on the floor.
"Did you hear that, daddy? She thinks your beautiful!" Emilia clapped.
Levi sighed in defeat.
"I'm so flattered."
