The sky was still a cloud of navy blue when my eyes blinked open. I ran my fingers through my hair as I muttered a string of curses at the ‘4:25’ etched in bright red on the alarm clock sitting on my nightstand.

“Shit, not again…” I mumbled and looked at the sleeping form to my right. Good, she’s still asleep.

“You sleep like a dumbass.” My voice whispered as I leaned down to brush the hair away from her forehead and softly kissed the exposed skin. Her face twisted into a slight frown and she mumbled incoherently while her face turned to my direction. The action left her shirt slipping down to reveal the curve of her shoulder.

I clicked my tongue as I watched her face morph into the same peaceful expression as before. “Now you’re just asking for a death wish, kid.” I growled as I hovered over her neck. The fact that one of her legs was riding up to latch around my waist did not help my current predicament at all.

“Damn. Since when did you get so clingy?” My question was directed at her but all I received was a tiny moan as an answer. Shit.

My head lowered closer to her as I gave her collar bone an experimental lick. Seeing that she didn’t react at all, I advanced farther North towards the curve connecting her neck to her shoulders and gently tugged the skin between my teeth. Her reaction was immediate as she released a whimper that was enough to make me shiver.

A few minutes passed as I continued to play around with her, finding amusement in the responses that she gave towards my actions.

“Rivaille…”

Her urgent whisper caused me to pause with my nose brushing near her lips. I glanced up and her eyes were still closed, clearly still asleep. My back relaxed and I sat back, shoving her leg aside, to make sure that she truly wasn’t awake. In the process, her hand had managed to hook onto my shirt.

Hanji’s dragged me to enough sappy romance movies for me to see Hollywood’s trend of creating sleeping female characters to be as visually appealing as possible and frankly, they were way off from the real deal. When I say that this idiot sleeps like a dumbass, I mean it.

She has such inconsistent sleeping habits that one second she could be curled up in a tiny ball and the next; she’s magically transformed into a windmill. Even a bed of straw was neater than her hair as her (h/c) locks were sprawled around like flying noodles. Her mouth hung slightly open as a dribble of drool collected on the corner.
How disgusting. Yet, I leaned down to kiss her cheek anyways.

Only fifteen minutes have passed since I woke up and I realized that there I had at least two more hours to go before she would wake up. Her fingers were pried loose as I lay back down to occupy myself with my thoughts. One of her vacant hands crept over to touch mine. Unconsciously, I laced our fingers together. It was a perfect fit.

My mind drifted to the first time that I first saw her, in my office, decked out in her best dress suit alongside the other Jaeger brat. Her hand was unbelievably cold and shaky the first time we shook hands. Behind that confident smile lies a maze of nerves. I remember rolling my eyes as the pair left, dismayed at this year’s new recruits.

Her ability to clean was a definite plus, I noted. Her coffee making skill definitely needs some polishing. She’s a hard worker for sure. Horrible kisser though.

I stopped there as I caught myself thinking about her again. Nowadays, I often find her and her idiotic traits taking over my thoughts while I’m alone in the office or during a meeting. It was like a drug that my brain’s addicted to. Gross.

I turned to send her an annoyed glare, which she obviously couldn’t see. Her nose twitched and I felt the urge to kiss her again.

“Damn brat.”

How long as it been since I was involved in a serious relationship anyways? Reeling back to my high school life, I realized that I’ve never been in one. Those days I wanted to wipe clean from my life forever. Never do I want to relive that era of my life. At any rate, all of the girls that I hooked up with never lasted longer than a week, so it’s not like those counted.

Erwin and I swore that we would never speak of our teenage life ever again. We would move on and never look back. Despite all that, here I am, thinking about it again. My lips twitched, as I suddenly felt annoyed by the trouble that this woman brought me.

Her body jerked upwards into a sitting position and she was finally awake. I silently watched her survey her surroundings with a confused look and she turned to look at me.

“What time is it?” She asked in a slightly hoarse voice.

“Almost five.”

“Oh.” Her gaze dropped down to our intertwined hands. “Did I do that in my sleep?”

“N-“ I stopped before I could correct her. There’s no way I’m letting this perfect opportunity slip. “Yeah and you know what else you did?”

She shook her head and I smirked.

“You were loud all night, whimpering and moaning…moaning that Jaeger brat’s name.” I pulled her down to my eye level. “Since when did you have a thing for him?”

“Ehh!? I…but there’s no way…It can’t be Eren. There’s no way I could be calling out Eren’s name when it was clearly…” She trailed off there as her face lit up.

As entertaining as watching her stumble with her words was, I still couldn’t help but feel bother by something. It was something about the way that the brat’s name rolled so easily off her tongue.

I yanked her chin towards me and cut her off mid-sentence with a kiss. My tongue slipped in with ease and she sat stiffly as her fingers clasped on and off my shirt. Her kissing skills were horrible as always and ticked off at her lack of movement, I slid my tongue across hers, gently massaging it.

“Hnngh…” She moaned and snapped her eyes shut.

I decided that this was enough for now as I pushed her away and turned around to sleep.

“Ri-rivaille!” She whined and I waved her off with one hand.

“Get to sleep, there’s still an hour left.”

She didn't say anything else and obediently crawled back into the covers. I peeked at her with one eye and almost smiled at the dissatisfied frown on her face.

In the end, I still liked the way that she called out my name best.
