Pandora was but a child
and the gods gave her a box
If they didn't want her to open it
they should have left it locked

They should have bolted it shut
and hidden that precious key
Instead they gave it to young Pandora
and let it be opened, oh-so, easily

For days she sat there watching, hoping for a sign
Wanting to see the contents, even if it was a crime
In a moment of foolish wonder she took off the ajar lock
and forever opened the forbidden Pandora’s Box

Out flew greed, pain, lust and war
and Pandora closed it in a rush as it, she saw
The gods flew down and asked her why
She said she couldn't help but pry

Now the world is deep in pain
and Pandora wants to open her box again
Her heart says yes, but her mind's unsure
Foolishly she did, and out flew hope for all
