Jajajajajaj gracias?

Hello, I came here from the ProjectComment
An awesome picture. It immediately caught my attention in the ProjectComment gallery. From the thimbnail it is not quite apparent what exactly is going on there (thanks to the vague background and the transparent umbrella), but that only helped to awaken my curiosity.
I think the basic idea of showing the character in the rain from above, through the transparent umbrella is priceless; I think I have never seen this used before and it works really great. The umbrella first draws attention to its centre, but it is well balanced by other significant focal points – her face and her boots (thanks to their distinctive colour). Her facial expression really adds a lot to the picture, she looks so excited in the rain, watching the raindrops falling on her umbrella, but at the same time looking at the observer, captivating by her wide open eyes.
Also I like the raindrops, they are really well done. And I fully understand your comment that drawing them was not tedious but relaxing, I often do such things in my picture.
One thing I am not sure about is the background, apparently an ordinary view of rain in "normal" perspective. On the one hand, as I said, it caught my attention in the first place, but when looking closely on the picture, it just does not really fit and a more realistic background (I mean something simple such as wet ground, maybe with some puddles) might work better.
Anyway it is great and I really like the composition and the whole idea and execution. Well done!

Hi there
Welcome to my gallery and thanks so much for taking the time to write me your opinion Your time is appreciated
Hahahaha, that's a new one. I haven't seen the thumbnail myself but if it can peek anyone's curiosity, it is quite effective ;D
Thank you. I love rainy days and I long to get one of those umbrellas to myself to be able to look at the sky when it pours, so I wanted to share the idea, tho using a girl is always better because they're cute ;D I loved your description of her, I didn't had that first thing in mind, although yes, it's something I wanted to achieve!
Yes, that's a common suggestion, I think it was too much to try and make it kind of surreal, I'm definitely adding those puddles
Thanks again, I'm really pleased you liked my work nvn Hope to see ya around, have a great day ahead!

Hola! Yo provengo de
Te has mandado un extraordinario dibujo!

First off, I really like the idea you did with making it one of that transparent umbrellas, that was creative and a nice way of being able to show the girls expression and body language. Next, the raindrops on the umbrella are really well done, you did a great job in making it look realistic as if it actually was splattering against the umbrella while still preventing it from obscuring the view on the girl. Speaking of the girl, her expression is really adorable to look at, with a goofy smile and her hair all scattered around. It is also nice to see some of the strands of hair fall all around her and even some going down on the side of the bench. That was a nice little detail. Her pose is really expressive, looking relaxed and cute with a wide smile like she's just enjoying being there which gives her a lot of character to her. If there's one thing I'd criticize its a nitpick I had about her lower body. I kind of feel that since its raining and her legs aren't covered by the umbrella then they should be wet since it kind of looks like its only raining on the spot with her umbrella.

Hi I'm from Project Comment!
I really love the idea for this painting--it's so cool and I feel that you executed it really well! Your ability to do foreshortening is really good and the way you conveyed the body language and facial expression is tops. One thing that throws me off is that the raindrops all falling toward her from the sky, but when you drew them in the background they all fall straight down. Something you could do is edit the perspective on the boot pattern so it goes along with the actual boot--though I get why that would be tedious and it's not something that takes away from the image as a whole. I love your combination of hard and soft shading--especially with the clothing! But on the face near the mouth it looks like you shaded that part darker instead of lighter since the light is coming from straight above. Another small detail could just adding shadows from the umbrella skeleton on her!
Overall it looks really great!!!

Hello, and welcome!
Thank you so much for taking the time to write me a comment, I appreciate it much
And thanks also for all the positive points. Yes, the background doesn't combine with the actual raindrops; originally I thought about doing those drops converge in the center as supposed from the AoV, right? But I didn't like it, because it meant I had to do a defined background, maybe draw the road and some waves on the pond behind her and some reflectance... It sounds nice, and I'll try, but for this particular piece, I wanted her to be the main focus, as if she was suspended in the very moment she looks up to the sky and nothing behind her matters...
I'm definitely trying the background now
Ah! I didn't thought of those, yes! I'll add some shadows and revise the face too, thanks!
Thanks again for coming by, hope you have a great day ahead

at first I thought she was levitating but now I realize this is taken from above. Mind blown! The drop patterns are beautiful and go away from the center. It should have made me realize this is taken from above but the direction of the rain fooled me into thinking she was levitating sideways. The only thing that bugs me is the color palette, and even concerning that, I'm not sure why. The combination of purple and green works, but they are such bright colors that it makes me think of toys rather than real clothes.

HI! Thanks for stoping by to comment.
I never thought of it that way, levitating, you must have a very unique way to see the world!. It's true I didn't mind combining the raindrops of the background with the actual drops on the umbrella and that turned out to be unsettling, but I liked that, especially because it calls one attention to look for details, I have to say that was a trap ;D
But you're right, the palette is somewhat unsettling too.
I worked long trying different combinations but none satisfied me completely, except for this one, but yes, I've been told I should try softer hues in my drawings, I tend to prefer brightly saturated ones I'm trying to tone down my preferences and go for softer looks, I promise But I love that they made you think of toys, you see, on rainy season it is very common to find these kinds of clothes, right? So I saw at a store this very funny boots, zeebra-pattern with bright pink and purple and another pair with ladybugs printed, I loved the idea of having patterns in shoes, and I loooooove rainy days; most people associate rainy days with sad colors or even contemplative moods, but it makes me so happy that I wanted something bright to show it.. SO yes, my true colors are shown ;D
Thanks a lot for stopping by! Hope you have a great day

Thank you! Although is kind of surrealistic because the background and the object are placed at opposite directions, I liked that effect a lot!

Perhaps use one of the speedline brushes or the radial snap option to make the background raindrops converge on her umbrella. That could be interesting.

Thank you!
I share the liking, there's something very calming about rain that makes it all the better to draw it
I don't own a see-through umbrella but it's something I'd love to get to be able to see the sky when it rains, also to stare at rain through a window celling has to be the best
