Description Alright, so here is a photograph I took of two of my Dynasty Warriors drawings, in an attempt to better capture the original detail - specifically the shading. It is a little better I think. I took many pictures before I found the right balance.

I can try doing this for the rest of the characters I've drawn, but only if people actually want to see them. ONE PERSON DOESN'T COUNT!

Anyhow, Zhu Rong on the left and Yue Ying on the right.

Yeah, and I still had to adjust the contrast somewhat because the photo washed it out a little too much, which then added weird shadows to the picture that aren't in the original drawings. I swear, I can't win.

Wow

Just wow. The difference is staggering.

Zhu Rong and Yue Ying seemed to have lost a lot of dimension to their faces through the scanner. It's such a shame that the subtler shading you put into these pieces was completely lost. I really like how defined the bridge of Yue Ying's nose is in this version.

I want to see more of the characters you've drawn, please!

Hehe, I was just responding to your other comment about this. I feel like such a dork now, .

It really does make a different though, doesn't it? Once I'm back home I'm definitely going to try taking some pictures of my other drawings and post them, because, ugh, these turned out so much better this way.

Jesus, the difference between the scanned version is striking...they're ten times better looking this way.

I recommend hiring some men in fine Italian suits to visit yer scanner and teach it a lesson. >.>

lol, yeah, it's pretty awful. I'm trying to con my mom into springing for a really high quality scanner and seeing how well that works, but I don't know how much of a difference it will really make.

I might just have to stick to taking photos of my drawings from now on .

Yeah there's a pretty big difference. I can see the care in shading you've done around the nose too as well, and wow how meticulous you are. I dream of getting my values that smooth. I'm surprised you aren't happier with your work, I would feel awesome if my notebooks and pads looked like that. There's no doubt in my mind if it were something you wanted to do you could be a professional artist.

AND FINE I WASN'T GOING TO ASK ANYWAY!

I wouldn't bother going backwards with it unless you really really want to. I would just go forward and refine your captures as you go. Getting bogged down in finished work can kill the creative spirit.

Well hmph, I see how it is! I think my creative spirit is already dead, haha.

Wait, does that mean I'm off the hook?!! Although...it is nice seeing my drawings show up just a smidgen better on the computer screen. The shading part anyway.

I am happy with them, really. It does make me proud to see all the work I put into them and how well they all turned out. It's just the part where nobody raves about my stuff so I feel kind of sub-par despite all the effort that I've put in to make my drawings at least moderately professional looking.

You're my biggest fan! Thank you, .

Wow effin DA didn't alert me to this response.

Was thinking I was being singled out there in the description comment.

I think you probably should push your work around little bit in groups. I've done it with a few things and it has gotten some of my stuff a decent increase in views. It doesn't seem like anything will get any hits at all on it's own with how fast submissions blow by on the new page, and if a ton of people don't suddenly favorite it, it won't even hang as popular in any category or any time frame.

I have no personal biases towards the characters you enjoy drawing, so I'm mostly enjoying all your stuff from an artists perspective. The details, the accuracy, the effectiveness of the expression, etc. etc. etc. I more pure and objective appreciation.

So in terms of getting droves of people to rave about your work. You probably have to do certain content that appeals to the masses. My little eye thing got quite a bit of attention, because there's probably a bunch of people that love eye drawings, but I definitely don't want to draw eyeballs all the time.

Haha, I was going to make a wise ass remark about maybe drawing Justin Bieber, but I realize that the popular view grabbing character in the DA culture seems to be Jack Sparrow. Almost all the top notch photorealists I've looked at have done a photorealistic Jack.

Haha, well, I didn't want you to be the only person requesting that I take more pictures. Sigh, I probably came across as whiny - I'm sorry. I was worried I upset you, . I didn't mean to single you out in a bad way, but now that I think about it, it really doesn't come across very nicely... Sorry!

You never know just what DA is up to, .

Yeah, I don't know...maybe I'm too lazy? I don't generally go pushing my stuff around, although my pumpkin carvings are raved about, of all things, haha. People love those.

Ew, Justin Bieber NOOOOOOOO!! NEVAH!

CAPTAIN JACK! I love Jack Sparrow - or rather Johnny Depp, but not enough to draw him, hahaha. Or should I say, not enough to try drawing him. I tend to want to do my own thing anyhow. There are so many Jack Sparrow drawings - unless I could pull off something completely original (which I'm not convinced I can) I wouldn't want to add another one to the list, especially among so many talented artists, waaaay better than me.

No worries, I took it as comical tone.

Well, it doesn't take much effort to join a group and submit the art. I'm lazy too in that respect, the better thing would be to try to get involved with the group. I might try some of that later when I have more time. The ones I joined so far are auto accept, so it was like a couple clicks and I submitted stuff and they feature it when they get to looking through it.

I know what you mean, I have serious reservations about trying to morph other characters around, because when that goes badly everyone's going to know. If it's just my stuff, then I can at least pretend maybe it's supposed to look that way.

I'm also honestly tired of seeing Jack Sparrow pictures now, because of the sheer volume.

Sure they're amazing [link] but I've seen him like a hundred times now.

I want to see more. I know I'm just one person, but if another one raises a hand then you've got no excuse not to

Well, I'm figuring on my buddy raising his hand too so that pretty much seals my fate. Which means I'll have a crapload of more work to do! lol, . It's all good.
