- sometimes also known as Bird demon or fake dragon demon
- many believed that this type of demon was a dragon demon. they are more family with birds than the dragon who are egg-laying mammals. they even have hollow bones as birds
- Piasa are covered in green feather which they mostly use to camouflage than to impress. their antler and wings are used more in the impress category.
- most male and females have the antlers. the females only have the big antlers while the males have the smaller ones on the side of their head. the one on the image is a male.
- Piasa are pretty good swimmers. their feathers are water-proof and they stay in the water on very warm days.
- when they are unable to fly in dense forest, the claw on their wings helps them to hang on or climb trees. they are not as agile or fast as the feather-wings dragon when climbing, but it do the job.
- like the feather-wings dragon; the Piasa was almost hunted to extinction mostly because it was mistaken for the feather-wings and like them; the Piasa race decided to go underground in hiding. they are slowly beginning to return back to the civilizations.
- for the last 150 years after the Dark war and the genocide of the Piasa. there have only been seen around 300 of them in the last 50 years.

that is great. are you going to follow the original legend about the Piasa or are you going to make your own?

a little bit of both. i'm leaving little hints and breadcrumbs for readers to piece together- like people who watch Star Wars for the first time and don't know Palpatine is the Emperor.
i'll give you a spoiler in-depth look.
in my story, Tales from Dragenia, Piasa was originally a Illinois Native American named Nazhka. he and his twin brother Nascent accidentally found a portal to another world called Dragenia, a world run by advanced dinosaurs- specifically Utahraptors- called Saureeds. While they were there, the gods of the world- divine dragons called Astrals- gifted the brothers with scales that would transform them into dragons, or Aerids as they're called.
Nazhka would come into contact with a mysterious and ancient artifact- the ultimate Hindu weapon known as the Pashupatastra, which had been hidden on the planet by Shiva himself- and become corrupted by its raw power before the pair fled home. this exposure would slowly corrupt his mind into madness and deform his dragon half into the monster that is painted. back on earth, the events of his legend would play out as the same. He would eventually be given the name Piasa and, after the legend is done with and he became completely and irreversibly evil, flees back to Dragenia. His brother and tribe chased after him and saw that he did a lot of damage when he came through before going into hiding, but would learn that the artifact had disappeared long before his return. this leads the Saureeds to declare war on Nascant and his people, forcing him to go back to earth to gather allies, including civilziations that disappeared mysteriously like the Aztecs.
this would become a major war where the Astrals would actually help the humans, who they call Ferids, by granting all of them scales. this would lead to the Ferids victory over the Saureeds, dissolving the empire and putting the dinos, now being called Gaharots, into slavery. as a result, though, the gateway back to earth had been lost, stranding the 2000 plus humans on Dragenia. Nascent knew his brother was still out there and vowed to find him.
jump cut 5000 years later to the events of the storyand the war is declared a myth and everyone believes that the current state of affairs had been like this since hte dawn of time. the Ferids multiplied like bunnies and spread across Dragenia, with Gaharots as their slaves, though some countries have slowly been outlawing it entirely, like the isolated sub-continent island of Evioly, and those that refuse are met by a Gaharot resistence group known as the Janiessaries.
Piasa, who had been busy these past centuries, is manipulating world events behind the scenes. he had achieved immortality through a forbidden and sinister method: extracting the souls of people and devouring them- kinda like the anime Soul Eater, but much darker.
but one day... hoooo, he got scared. a legend had arisen about Silver Aerids, who are considered to be harbingers of great and world-changing events. Nascent was the first and one would be randomly chosen as the years went on. the current Silver would bring about the biggest changes to the world, for colonists from the Milky Way Galaxy would call the planet home and the ancient Pashupatastra would be found.
all thanks to one orphan girl from a small mountain town: Sokuro.

it sounds like an interesting story. lots of Lore.
so in your story, the Piasa survive? in our legends the Piasa was killed by the village it was terrorizing.

yeah. when you have aspergers, it just comes naturally. i make all this stuff up on the fly- that's how good my imagination is.
nut yeah, he was wounded badly, but fled, and found a bad way to achieve immortality. in my story, he's gonna be pure evil. no redemption arc, no hint of good (except for the flashback), nothing. it's a old fashioned good vs evil slugfest with the universe at stake.
and he's been a busy bee for over 5000 years. he created a deadly race of eternally hunger monsters known as the Phagos.
he's been responsible for a lot of wars- the subtle way, like un... Ares from the Wonder Woman movie; a ghostly whisper in their ear. and he's corrupted a few Silvers to evil. all for pleasure, too. did i mention he's crazy?
and he's learned a technique not even the gods knew was possible. While in Aerid form, he can transform yet again by destroying a scale and absorbing its magical power. One can go from a quadruped beast into a bipedal nightmare. they get stronger, faster, and any skills they learned can be used here. so if he were to, say, know karate or muai tai, he'd be able to use it in the second form because of the increased flexibility. he calls it Double-Mation... he's not the best when it comes to naming things.
not the prettiest picture, but the only one i have of him. his 'double-mation' transformation.

it sounds like you have a bunch of Gods. can a mortal turn into a god or can they be chosen to be one?
the last image is a pretty nice image. is he supposed to look like a dragon here?

no. they cannot. the Astrals were made by the creator of Dragenia, U'qu'umatz, better known as Quetzalcoatl. he helped Shiva hide it. Did a bit of a bad job there, but when you are sleeping for over 10000 years, you tend to lose track. Silvers like Sokuro are the closest thing- they can use light magic, which only Astrals can use.
by the way, here's Sokuro.
and he is supposed to look like a dragon. like i said, it's a second transformation. That's more or less what he originally looked like before the corruption.

but yeah, things are going to get crazy and insane. the most recent chapter has her finding a mural in a cave with a image of him as a beast at the end and, for some reason, she and her friend Bran get horribly afraid of it, despite never seeing the lout before. that's how scary he is in this story- even just a image sends terror through their soul.
also doesn't help this is kinda his theme song: www.youtube.com/watch?v=uGIu6-…

yeah. there's gonna be a few of those breadcrumps going forward and i'm gonna introduce a few possibilities and a few red herrings to the audience so they can try and figure out who Piasa is currently: a new recruit to a kingdoms army, a royal adviser, or a mortician, all of whom are named Asaip- Piasa spelled backwards. on top of that, he can teleport around, sowing more personalized chaos while going by the name Hakan, which i think is native american for Fire- could be wrong.
if this were a show, he would be played by Noah Watts AKA Conner from Assassin's Creed 3. www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_PsZ7…

yep. and besides, i need a alias. even if it isn't native american in origin, it still works as a misleading name.
