Description
The Hidebehind is a beast of the forest that everyone has heard, but never seen. The snapping of twigs in the darkness, the rustling of branches behind veils of leaves, those are clear signs of this stalking monster. You can hear it creep and sneak about, slowly getting closer to its prey, but no matter how near it gets, no one has ever seen it. Its speed is unnatural and its body impossible. Just as you turn to try and spot your pursuer, it zips behind the nearest tree or bush and vanishes. Even in a forest of meager trees and small saplings, the Hidebehind is able to conceal itself perfectly. No matter how fast your eyes are, or how hard you try, you will never see one until it is too late. When it finally gets close enough, it lashes out with its huge, terrible claws and disembowels- what? Well, of course they have claws, everyone knows that! You can see it clearly in the state of their victims. Their bodies shredded and intestines removed, for that is their favorite part! This shaggy-maned monster feasts only on the intest- What do you mean "how do I know they have fur?" Isn't it obvious? You can find clumps of it around the forest, and especially by the remains of those it has slaughtered. The hair looks a lot like bear hair, but it's different, ya know? Anyways, the only way to avoid this terrible fate is soaking yourself in the one thing the Hidebehind hates: alcohol! That is right, these drinks right here are what's going to keep us safe, as the mere smell of it makes the Hidebehind cut and run! Be sure to drink plenty, though! Wouldn't want the reek to be so weak that it only detects it after it gets its hooks in ya! So that is why we made sure this camp is well stocked with- now what?! How do we know alcohol works?! How is it not obvious?! You know how many times I have been out here? I make sure to chug down as much of this stuff I can each time I venture into these woods, and I have never seen even a trace of a Hidebehind! Well, yeah, you normally can't see it, but you know what I mean! Craig over there hasn't seen one either, and it is all thanks to his legendary dri- YES I KNOW YOU CAN'T SEE THEM! Ah forget it, I need another beer...

Here is a Fearsome Critter I did some heavy altering to. The main descriptions have them as tall narrow mammals with big arms and claws. Nothing too exciting to me, so I decided to throw it in the nearest taffy puller.
