Description While many species are negatively impacted by humanity's growing population and ever increasing land development, there are some that thrive in these new man-made ecosystems, or at least stubbornly hang on. This is a situation that can be seen in California, where the endemic Tripodero have been found to be incredibly (and unfortunately) resilient. When the cities and suburbs started overtaking its habitat, many believed the populations of Tripodero would either run or face extinction. Rather, they have chosen to remain, as it turns out the world of man has enough to offer. Happy with a diet of birds and small animals, the pigeon-filled, rat-infested cities are a buffet for these beasts, providing plenty of food. The landscape of the suburbs works well for them too, as the bushes and hedges serve as perfect cover for these retractable beasts. They can squeeze into tight spaces and shrink down to hide behind minimal cover, making them difficult to spot or root out. With the species adapting well to the urban environment, there were some who believed it was a good thing. One of California's weirdest animals was going to survive, surely this was a thing to celebrate!

If you ask any Californian about the survival of the Tripodero, they will be less than cheery. Turns out, a lot of folk wish this species stuck to the wilds or just vanished completely. Their easily-changeable height means they can get into attics or second-story windows. They can hide in bushes with ease and then startle nearby citizens when they rocket upwards on their legs. Don't even get the pet owners started, as lap dogs and house cats are the perfect size of these hungry beasts. No one likes finding their beloved pet brained by a mud pellet, especially if said pet was still inside their house. Windows are another causality of this species' reign, as they won't hesitate to take the shot if a tasty looking critter sits near these portals. Spitting earthy bullets isn't just for hunting, it is also for protection, so what do you think happens when a Tripodero is startled by a walker or passing car? The number of broken windshields skyrockets whenever the Tripodero population increases, and so do concussions. Efforts to eradicate these pests have been ongoing and slow, as it is difficult to fight an animal that has access to firepower. Most equipment and clothing provided to Animal Control are not meant for the battlefield, and a lot of employees don't want a job where they get shot at regularly.

So it seems the Tripodero will forever remain a menace to The Golden State. Broken windows and assassinated pets will remain a constant here. The only silver lining is that it continues to be hilarious whenever these rotten little monsters snipes a tourist.

Back from vacation! Anyways, this is one of a couple pieces I drew a while back when I got onto a Fearsome Critter kick. This is one of those instances I feel like I don't really add much in sakes of unique twists and versions to these, but that is because these creatures are already ludicrous enough as it is. Can't get much weirder!
