Description Anatomical drawings for a species design, a mermaid based on the blue shark, Prionace glauca. This page focuses on the skeletal structure and some behavior.

text:

       The Blue Shark Mermaid, Sirenis glauca, is just one of several observed mermaid species. Though one has never been captured alive by humans, we have found dead specimens and collected data from those as well as through observation. This obsevation can prove hazardous, however, as mermaids prey upon humans. Historically, more men have fallen prey to mermaids, which do use song to seduce and hypnotize their victims, but this appears to occur only out of circumstance. In the past, women went to sea far less often than men, giving the mermaids few options. Given the choice, they prefer human women to men, but it is unclear if this is due to preferance or simply because encountering a woman is rare.

Notes on Skeleton/Shark Parts:
1. Jaw can be thrust forward for wider bite.
2. Gill Rakers
3. Some human-specific bones (i.e. scapula) are cartilage.
4. First dorsal fin
5. Pelvic fins, with claspers if male (female shown)
6. Anal fin
7. Second dorsal fin
8. Caudal fin

White=Bone
Yellow=Cartilage

How is the merpeople evolution how they evolved and how many years they live?

Yeah, there are a lot more questions and answers I thought of after making these, so I might make another explaining the social structure of mergs, how singing works, and evolution/how they came to be (haven't decided magic or no magic).
