Description Well, here's another piece of my main character, Uriel. I really have difficulty sticking to one style.

What a beautiful piece of artwork that is absolutely well down. I wonder why you named the knight after Archangel Uriel--but I think in some strange way you might not know who that is.
What a beautiful piece of work--Archangel Uriel was an ANGEL who was perfect with SELF CONTROL and WILLPOWER--he also always knew WHAT TO DO.
I wonder if that is like this character that is on this picture.
I also wonder if you are in some strange way wondering if I am just rambling about nothing....???
Maybe not.
I wanted you to know that in some strange way this was a really good idea and this was really nice and really cute but I guess in some strange way it was time for you to tell me what was going on when you drew this???

I've been writing a story and the character's name is Uriel. This is how I often pictured her.

I'm from , so I'l give you my honest opinion and criticism.

I took the time to label the armor pieces you drew so you would know what I am talking about:   And I'm going to include a historical armor style from Northern Italy:

Here's a link to the armor I drew and I gave explanations to each separate part:

And I mean no offense to your art, I just want to inform you of the armor and their functionality.

Nice very nice.

You grasped the concept of armor very well. I really like this suit of armor you drew. I'm a medieval enthusiast myself and I drew armor as well. However, this is not without faults though, and I will include the mace in my criticism as well. The flanged mace is drawn nicely though.

She has no helmet. Where is her helmet? Her head is so vulnerable to an attack that anyone can simply take a stab at it and disable her for good. I know she doesn't have a helmet to show her off as a character but eh, I just find it a little worrying that she has armor on yet her head is not protected.

Her couters, and the upper and lower cannons of her vambraces have no openings near the elbow area, like it's just sealed off. I would understand if the couter plates near the bending part of the elbow is a little bigger, but it doesn't look like it. Upper cannon is the armor on her biceps and triceps areas, and the lower cannon is the armor that covers her forearms. Vambraces refers to armor that covers the areas I mentioned. I say there needs to be an opening around the pit of the elbow because it needs to articulate. It needs to bend. If it's sealed up like that, then it won't bend and she will have a hard time to move and bend her arms. But that would leave the thing open. But there's nothing we can do about that since it needs to bend. It's compensated by the addition of the aketon or doublet she wears for comfort and shock absorption along with maille for extra layer of metal protection from slashes and stabs from broader swords.

It's a minor gripe but the lower cannon of the vambraces is a little too close to the wrist. I say this because the wrist needs space to articulate and move since it is one of the joint areas. The wrist area can be protected with extended cuffs of her gauntlets.

I don't understand why you drew those extra tassets on her sides. There's no need for those things. Her cuisses, the thigh armor that I can see you have drawn, is already there to do its job. That and the tassets attached to the faulds can already do the job well if it had extra layers of plate. That and those extra tassets you drew are not attached to the faulds but attached by belts either worn underneath the cuirass on her. I can't see the belts from the extra tassets being riveted to the faulds or cuirass because it won't make sense and she wouldn't be able to put it on. Plus it just adds extra and unnecessary weight to her.

Her flanged mace could use some more flanges to it, since it appears she only has four flanges on it? Would be better if she had eight flanges overall.

I have also took note of the many plackart on her cuirass. There's normally only one on the front side (the breastplate) of the cuirass, but I did see there were some at the back of the cuirass (the backplate).

Overall, well done

Thanks, and yeah. Most of these do make sense and I'll take them into account. As for the helmet, just left it out so people can see the face. If I were focusing mainly on the character's attire, then I'd put the helmet. However, since it's focused on the person, no helmet.

You're welcome!

Ah I see. That makes sense. Thanks for clearing that up.

I forgot to say why there was a need for extra flanges. My thought is that she just can't hit with all sides of the flanges and if she hits with either of the four, it's only one surface of damage distribution, so it acts more like a weak version of an axe. If you add more flanges on the parts where's a lot of spaces on the head of the flanged mace, then you would have more surface of damage distribution on the part it hits. Those are just my thoughts.

Thanks for the armor eye candy nonetheless

That's my poor eyesight. I thought the mace had only four, but when I checked it again, apparently there was more. That and I did actually see one with only four.

Ah I see.

Oh so there was a flanged mace with four flanges in history, eh? I mostly see flanged maces as this type: www.kultofathena.com/images/AH…

Thanks for telling me.
