Description You may recognize this work from somewhere as this is the final composition of my previous matte painting Chaldea .
This one is meant to focus more on the characters and it has some of my usual trademarks: Stuff and effects flying around to make it look dynamic, and of course exaggerated tilt and colors.
I also started an anime-styled version of this artwork, but I didn't consider it worth the effort to see it through. This unfinished version can be found in my artstation project in case you're interested: www.artstation.com/artwork/nog…

The girls were rendered in DAZ3D and heavily edited in Photoshop afterwards to complete the details in the clothing and armor. The one in the foreground (Saber) is holding a longsword shrouded in magical lightning, which is not so obvious from this angle I guess. The source images were purchased from mattepaint.com and gumroad.

Yeah I remember you telling me about all the achievements you got back then.  
Not surprised you turned to RDR2 now. I haven't considered it yet because the western setting is not quite my cup of tea. Would you recommend it if I loved HZD?

As far as graphics go, RDR2 is definitely the most beautiful game I've played so far.
I've played it only for a few days, so I can't really compare it, but HZD is more action oriented, and the controls are much smoother there then in RDR2.
Essentialy they're different games, I'd say if you like GTA V style gameplay, interesting dialogue and characters, and an open world you'll actually enjoy exploring, it's definitely a recomendation

thanks Rogerito! And yeah, I think the "anime version" had its merits over this one, but I feel like I could have pushed it further yet didn't have the motivation to do it. So I didn't post it here. Also I'm not sure how much my watchers would enjoy anime

yeah she doesn't quite fly, but she can jump really high..
Crating movement is really challenging, so I borrowed a few tricks from animation and comic artists. I'm glad that paid off because I wasn't quite sure how well it would work with the overall style. 
I'm also a fan of the shiny lightning effects lol.

Haha, I don't mind those sad and heartbreaking ones at all. Anime like Erased or Your Name are among my all time favorites. I put Grave of the Fireflies on my watchlist, thanks.
Angel Beats had its sad parts but for most of the time it intended to be humorous actually. For me it was a major disappointment because it didn't know where it was going and after reading some amazing reviews about it I expected a lot more.
You've watched sooo many things. I have a lot of catching up to do. But I've noticed we both hated the new Tokyo Ghoul season.

Personally i like both versions....and for me colors or others part of the scene are not exaggerated as you wrote simply because they are natural tones
 the work on the girl is great and the wave around her to simulate the velocity is a great idea and of course very Goku style
The clouds are cool and for me the circles are in plus, this because the cool clouds have a natural shape while the circle has an artificial shape and so this, for me, creates a visual clash....but there is also another personal reason, the clouds follow a correct visual continuity while the circles not.
For me the girl and clouds were enough. At maximum the girl, the clouds and the angel in the middle of the clouds.
The first impact works really excellent and this is the most important aspect.

hehe Goku style It's really challenging to create a sense of movement in a still image so I borrowed a few tricks from animation and comic artists for that. Glad it worked!
