i just got finished re-re-reading this (LoL), you should do a drawing of Colonel Janet Hence. now SHE was hard-to-the-fucking CORE. i think her and Nathan Happling were my favorite characters in the DP. their dynamic made the story just pop and progress even when nothing was happening. they both represented sort of the other end of spectrum of the SSF, those few who ACTUALLY aren't as corrupt of douchey as Avery pegs all officers to be.

Gosh I need to reread all the books in this series, or rather reread the first two and read the last one for the first time because I still haven't got it, it's silly! I might just take one of the first books in the series to analyze in a class I'm taking at uni about crime fiction, it's gonna be awesome.

there are like what? four books so far? i'm going to get the Eternal Prison either this or next week. i JUST finished a research paper for the Electric Church that i did for my English Literary Analysis class. i prompted a comparison to the SFN and Thomas Hobbes' Leviathan, the whole notion of social contract theory. LoL. you should totally use those for your Crime Fiction class, that'd be boss.

Four?! Goodness I'm really out of the loop here! It's so cool you used these books for a class too, haha. I'm probably gonna compare the style of Avery Cates to the hard-boiled detectives of the film noir era. It's gonna be really nice.

yep; The Electric Church, The Digital Plague, The Eternal Prison, and The Terminal State. they'll probably be more since Orbit books REEEEALLY wants Somer' Cates' novels to do well in sales. also i hear theres talks of a movie for the EC to be made at some point in the next year or two also, so you know...sequels. the author/novelist is quickly becoming Hollywood's whore i'm afraid. lol

It doesn't surprise me though, he seems like the type, but if a movie came along I'd be happy to se it, although it could also become a disaster. We'll just have to wait and see.

it reeeally depends on who they pick for the cast. the formula of the story is easy enough to adapt, but the EC's main lure was its characters. if i hear Chad Michael Murray or that asshat Channing Tatum gets casted as Avery i'm going to lose my cool. but you're right, only time will tell on that one.

I think I read somewhere that mr Somers wished for Cillian Murphy in the role as Avery Cates and that would be seriously fucking cool in my opinion. I just like his style and yeah >_> His looks.

Cillian Murphy would actually be a pretty dope Ave, but i personally he'd make a BRILLIANT Kev (thats just me though). hmmm, can't give much commentary on the "looks" department. unfortunately i'm wired to notice those sort of things more on girls. to his credit though i suppose he is a good looking bloke. he was pretty money as Scarecrow. LoL

Oh yeah, he's got kind of scary eyes that would work well with Kev. We should totally be hired to do the casting for the movie. Ha!

yeah actually. i think we could do a boss job with that. word around the campfire is Christian Bale's name is floating around to be Ave. personally i think he's a tad too "good looking" to be rough ass Avery with his busted yellow teeth. BUT, he is a VERY flexible actor, so he might pull it off. if he were thirty years younger, i'd say Pete Postlethwaite would be the perfect Ty Caith, LoL

we run that possibility with the current state of film making. if they let Somers supervise it might be safe though.

awesome! I just finished reading the book yesterday. Glee is only physically there for a couple of chapters but she certainly makes an impression, doesn't she? I'm going to think of Glee looking like this the next time I read the book. Great job.
