Roi woke up to complete silence. It was around 3am.
He blinked. Usually there was the noise of Shale cleaning or shuffling. He peered into shale's room, expecting her to be there. No one.
A small note was taped to the door. Roi pulled it and read it outloud. "Roi, Moxie and I had to go to town. She left a book there and nearly threw a fit." Roi blinked and rolled his eyes. "Typical." He muttered. It was extremely dark, and only the sound of the wing could be heard. It was spooky. "The idiot leaves me here alone!" Roi complained. He passed the stairs and looked down. Something wasn't right.
A plate rolled by. "What the.. hell?" Roi's eyes widened. They lived extremely far from town, so no one should be here right?
"Nice job, shale. I'm not falling for that" He spat, padding down the stairs. "I hate pranks! Just come out for chii's sake."
Roi walked into the kitchen. The table had been moved slightly and some cups had fallen. "Shale..?" Roi could feel his heart drop as two arms reached from behind him. Breathing filled his ears. He turned around, fear pumping through his body. A scream ripped through the forest.
