Description My friend, Stephen, dressed as John Millington Synge.
I've been following Stephen around bookshops and various other venues photographing his readings from Joseph O'Connor's "Ghost Light" We spent yesterday in Farmleigh House, the final reading took place in the magnificent Georgian ballroom.[link]

"Ghost Light" is Dublin's choice for the 2011 "One City, One Book"
The book is a romance of sorts, loosely based on an affair between J.M. Synge and the actress, Molly Allgood. It's a difficult book in places, a tad over-tactical, but I enjoyed the story and shed a tear or two reading it

Damn, I wish I could that cool with books around. But I'd only look into the books.

Great picture, Liz, from whichever way you look at it. It would even be great if you gave someone a 4 inch brush and two pots with black and grey paint and tell him to copy it. I guess that means that it is a great compo.

I also took the opportunity to shoot people not looking cool in bookshops Most of them are heads buried in books but I think I have one worth uploading, bald guy in a bookshop window. Looking cool is so overrated... especially as I stopped looking cool about 10 years ago

Thanks Eric!

I like the perspective, good choice!

I'm proud to say that I've started reading books again, though very slowly. It took me a few months to get through Woody Allen's newest book and it's only like 160 pages or so

I picked up my first Terry Pratchett novel as well, I've just started that one!

I was NOT leaving the bookshop without trying a couple of shots from the stairs

I've read most of Terry Pratchett's books... I think I've managed to skip 3 in the discworld series
I envy you in a way, to be reading them again for the first time! Pratchett is better than Prozac
Except for "Strata" I didn't like that one so much...

Thanks

I've heard good things about his books so hopefully I like them As for the whole series there's like 34 or so aren't there? It'll take me a bit to get through all of that

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Elizamac In reply to Lekompakt [2011-04-29 14:15:50 +0000 UTC]

I've been reading Pratchett for nigh on 20 years, dearie Discworld books have made me through 3 births, 2 deaths in the family and several other traumatic experiences... why he's better than Prozac I've read his children's books to my kids and they look forward to being able to read the "grown up" Pratchett's. I really hope you enjoy the one you're reading, and with 34 or so in the series, you'll never be stuck for something to read

I've just started reading The Colour of Magic, the first one he ever wrote! and given the footnotes about discworld in the edition I have I'm ready for another Tolkien-esque reading of the footnotes about the worlds and characters

I would have stayed on the stairs shooting if we hadn't had 5 minutes to get to the next venue... which was 10 minutes away Stephen is used to me shooting him from odd angles, if I uploaded the last photo from the "Ghost Light" sessions, he would probably kill me... he looks mad!

Thanks Mary
