Description Saint Patrick's Day Parade, No Viewing zone.

Not an angle that would usually appeal to me... but it looked daft The camera picked up what I couldn't see, from where I was standing they were staring at a solid black background.
I moved to a different position to get a "Homage to HCB" shot, the woman and children spotted me, they posed! Not what I was after

This is such a great shot...I thought that the man was urinating..and that possibly this was his wife and she was just waiting...slightly embarrassed...love an image that gets my imagination running.

I wish the second shot had worked. They were an odd looking group, even from the front

You get some funny looks when you shoot people in the back, funnier still when the subjects are staring at nothing

A no viewing area at a parade... Perhaps an open-air dressing room or so? Sometimes things make more sense inside at the organisational meeting-table than in the cold ISO of day.

I have no idea why it was a No View zone It's about halfway along the parade route so not a changing area. I thought perhaps they were protecting a forgettable statue of someone who was important once. He usually ends up covered in green beads, flags, and wearing a nice hat or two. But the barriers come down almost as soon as the parade is over and probably ended up covered in junk anyways.... like the angel fountain around the corned that usually ends up looking like a bubble bath The most logical conclusion, it left a clear access route to the nearest police station

Thanks Eric

A lot of sculpture would improve with a bubble bad added to them.

Ireland will be Ireland... Leylines, ancient stonecircles and now Mysterious No View Zones!

I wandered around a crap exhibition last week, an instillation that looked like the artist and gallery technicians had an argument before opening night, threw stuff on the floor and left Some bubble bath and a "NO VIEWING" sign would have made it worth looking at

More art reviews should be like that.
I hope I haven't told before, but decades ago, a friend of Mrs ForFriends' drove everybody crazy by going around saying: "something terrible has happened and I can tell you what". (Try to be empathic with someone saying that.) So, a few years later we were in a Madrid museum in a room exclusively populated with enormous abstract canvases in interesting shades ranging from blackish brown to brownish black and Mrs FF looked at me with hollowed eyes saying: "Something terrible has happened, and I can't tell you want". We stuck to that one ever since when confronted with retard avantgarde.
Oh, and because you're probably dying to know: Mrs FF's friend had discovered her then boyfriend, a dentist, in bed with his assistant. That didn't stop the friend and her dentist from marrying and living happily ever after.
I still don't know how those paintings got into the Reina Sofia Museum though.

Brilliant plz emote Sometimes I suspect you have them made by order somewhere.

I love that story! Everyone should have such a line to share with their partner

I actually checked an Irish artist's bio, to see if he had ever exhibited in the Reina Sofia Museum... you could be describing his paintings. I discovered large holes in his exhibition catalog, the six painting show I endured for a couple of months wasn't mentioned My husband foams at the mouth at the mention of this particular artist's work, and his deplorable use of "artspeak". His last painting exhibition he described as, "Two Years of Seeing". We laughed a lot The guy is almost unbearable when he has his artist hat on but I get on very well with him, and he did buy me lots of coffees from the good cafe down the street... while I sat with his shades of brown paintings, hoping the gallery would catch fire... again...

Was there anything of interest to see or just this solid black background? It's odd

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Elizamac In reply to A-teinna [2011-04-01 11:20:23 +0000 UTC]

The Patrick's Day parade was going past the black barrier in the background. Whatever about being able to see through one barrier, I don't know how they managed to see through both. I had a look after I took the picture, I could just make out a few blurry figures. Perhaps they were going for an impressionist view of the parade Funnier still was police moving people away from the barriers, the were serious about NO VEIWING.

Thanks
