Description
Balm House.The House canon is compassion, their motto is "Rest and be soothed".
The balm plant really is quite boring, I've discovered. This design really was quite hard to drag out and make into something pretty. There's a hint of a homage to Aesclepius with the two lines twining round the stem (the staff of Asclepius symbolises the healing arts by combining a serpent (symbolising rebirth and regrowth) with the staff (symbolising authority).
Second to last marque. Alle-fucking-luia!!! One more to go!

I like how each part has its one shape. Balm is cruciform, Camellia, like a rhombus, or Eglantine, T-shaped.

I think it's plenty soothing and very nice, calming too.
Oh and I so now want some kind of tattoo combining all of your designs. Though, I've never had the courage to want a full marque (maybe in another life).

Before I read the comments I was going to ask if balm referred to bee balm... guess so.

I've been trying for ages to work out whether balm and bee balm are actually the same thing! We don't have bee balm over here, we have things like lemon balm - [link] and [link] Its Melissa officialis. Bee balm - [link] - is Monarda, but I'm not sure if those two genera are closely related. But bee balm is bergamot, which is a herb (and essential for earl grey tea!) and lemon balm is a herb too, so I guess they are fairly close! Anyway, I tried to sort of smudge the two together a bit!

I'm familiar with both bee balm and lemon balm... although I have no clue if they are "related." I have a friend who would know, but by the time I remember to ask her we will have well moved on...
