Yes, Matthew's story is beautifully painful in fact I love FE7 because of how the characters suffer, I'm such a jerk.

Ha, you're not to blame! Sometimes, the more the characters suffer, the deeper gets the bond between them and the player, metaphorically... So seems like Intelligent Systems did everything right there, after all
