Description "When a star like our own reaches the end of its life, it begins to run out of hydrogen fuel in its core. Like a car running out of gas, it will begin to sputter, swelling to a size that could encompass every planet in our solar system out to Mars. When this happens, the sun will swallow the Earth and will spell certain doom for all life on our planet."

Thanks for the tutorial, I referenced it for this piece and enjoyed it / learned from you immensely: [link]

Do you have any restrictions on the usage of the textures or design in terms of referencing or commercial purposes I should know about? Thanks man!

I read somewhere that the gravitational shockwave the sun would make during expansion would actually just blow away the Earth several lightyears.
(Of course that would probably erase all life as well.)
Awesome work! The plasma has an incredible texture and the heat haze really gives this image a sense of power.

The growth of the sun will take thousands of years to reach earth, its not a sudden event for us, we will see it coming for generations. Yet in the timeframe of the universe its just a millisecond.

Ah yes, I forgot that a star only starts to expand gradually once it starts to run out of hydrogen, rather than it suddenly ballooning once the last atom is fused.
-Although that would be far more spectacular!

I would love to see that, would be very cool (no irony intended) to see a rapidly ballooning sun :Þ
