Description
Krang in his "android" body, from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. They always said this was an android body, but it was always flesh-colored, so I figured he's more of a cyborg. Thus, here he is. Not sure if I like this piece or not. Next time I'm going to have him in an action pose (assuming there is a next time).Related content

It's very well done. I've thought of doing this for certain characters that have been left in the dust and forgotten about.
It kinda reminds me of (don't know if you've seen them or not) the revamped Transformers in the Dreamwave run of comics. No, HELL NO, I am NOT talking about the weird bionicle look they have in the movies. If you haven't seen the Dreamwave comics, they basically took this kind of approach. Original designs + added realistic features, such as gears, wires, see-through eyes, etc. Not the standard simple block-look they used to have. If you haven't seen them, you should give em a look. Don't know if you're a fan or not, but I was a fan of both growing up. Moreso a TF fan, but I love a good TMNT episode now and then. They should do a crossover sometime, since they both delve into the sci-fi realm.

I've seen the books you're talking about, but I was never a big reader of either the Dreamwave or IDW stuff. I did read War Within, or at least part of it. Too cheap to buy the current ongoing series, but I've heard good things about it. Anyway, yeah. I do wish the live-action films could have used a more traditional style, and just meched them up a bit.
This Krang is pretty old, so maybe it's time to revisit it or do some other TMNT characters. Thanks for viewing!

I like how you did Krang's robot body. It looks partly organic and partly mechanical. Kind a like a cybernetic Frankenstien monster of some sort!

As a kid, I didn't understand what that body was supposed to be (metal or flesh). I didn't really like the design of it, but I guess it was iconic enough to have an impact on me. *shrug* As for the Frankenstein reference, Shredder did say "It's alive. It's ALIVE!!!"

Heh. Yeah. I remember that Frankenstein moment that Krang and Shredder had in that one episode when he provided him with his new body. Without a doubt it was definitely a reference to the old Frankenstein movie.
As for the body itself, yeah, it does have a rather strange design. It kind of resembles that of a large man or humanoid type creature in wierd glasses and a red speedo. But like you said, it's iconic in it's own special way. In the way I see it, everything has it's own special uses.

The thing that struck me about Krang from the old cartoon was how wet and gooey he was. Something about the sound effect when Shredder picked him up and placed him into the robot body, maybe. It grossed me out.

Just gorgeously done, and you really made the android body as disturbing as it would be in person. I always thought it was really gross with its distorted human proportions and artificial flesh.
Of course, Krang himself looks truly badass here as well.

Wow, thanks. I'm pretty happy with parts of this drawing, but now that time has passed I'm really starting to dislike the colors. I may have to take another stab at Krang pretty soon, either with or without his robo-body. Thanks again.
