Description It has been a long time, but I return with some original art!

I would love some critiques here. I feel like I've definitely improved from my last attempt at this sort of conceptual piece, but my composition + rendering could both use work!

Hey, I saw you already got some critique with this piece on the forum and I agree with this being a pretty nice idea and adding more detail.
But thought I'd just add my two cents in too, if you'd like

I think with a name like 'King of the Lake' you'd want the most emphasis on the skeleton and his throne so those should be the largest things that you see - right now the seaweed on the left and platform are looking just about the same size which leads to lack of contrast.
Speaking of which, I did a value check - the dark part of the throne contrasts too much with the rest of it - it should be more subtle so the skeleton stands out, which in turn seems to be blending in with the throne because they're both similar in value at the moment.

In terms of colours - it could be pushed further. That depends on the other objects that you'd put it but I'm thinking yellow-greens/reds/oranges.

The next thing is the brush setting. Is the flow reduced? If it is, it gives off an undesired blending effect. To make it look smoother, play around with the opacity more than the flow and mix up hard with soft brushes.

That's about it from my end, I hope it helps some!

Thank you! This is a really great critique and has really helped me a lot! I'm just wondering, with the contrast in the throne, would you recommend lowering the contrast and darkening the values so that the white skeletons pops a bit more? I made the front very bright because of the lighting situation but you are right, the skeleton is blending in. That might be what's making it difficult to read from a distance.

Thanks again, this really helped.

You're welcome, I'm glad it helps!
And yes, I do recommend lowering the values a just a little more for the lighter side of the throne so it'll blend better with the darker as well.
