Name: Gallien Mochrie
Titles: -
Sex: Male
Age: 25
Card type: Bronze
Race: Bismarkian
Occupation: Bard [for the Hildegard Family]
Family:
Strophius Hildegard [Father] - Strophius was at the tail end of the surge of the mounted knights, taking on the occupation from his father before him. He's a brave, strong fighter, and is happy with the two of his sons who can rise up and join him in the infantry forces someday. He's very strict, and has little sense of humor, though he counts his family as extremely blessed and his wife as exceptional for having three sons. Even if one is a pansy music man.
Adelaide Hildegard [Mother] - The only one who seemingly approves of Gallien's life choices, Adelaide is soft for her gentle son. She came from a wealthy family, and was presented to Strophius by her father. They've become very close [clearly, they have three children] despite the arranged marriage, even though they disagree on quite a lot. After bearing three children, she feels less inclined to argue, and is often simply very tired.
Kaletor Hildegard [Older Brother] - Kaletor was the first son, and when he showed signs of bravery, Strophius was ecstatic. He's the shining example of a son that wants to be like his father. Doing his best in training, he aims to someday be at the front lines on horseback. Generally, Kaletor is the most vocal about his thoughts, and the most willing to fight over them. Very of the mindset: talk shit, get hit.
Meidias Hildegard [Younger Brother] - Meidias is the quieter of the brothers, what with Gallien always singing or cracking open his quick wit, and Kaletor ready to attack everyone that throws shade. He wants to make his father proud, so he continues on with his military training, but he has a secret love of books, and one day hoped to attend the university. For now though, he accepts his fate, and is perfectly content doing what his father encourages him to do.
Personality:
+Charming +Optimistic +Honest +Quick Thinking +Empathetic +Curious
-Easily Intimidated -Prudish -Immature -Unpredictable -Selfish -Curious
Gallien Mochrie is the a cheerful, optimistic man who seemingly has no care in the world. Of course that's not true below the surface, but there are more important things to do than wallow in negativity. There are songs to sing, jokes to crack, men to charm, and poetry to write. Essentially, he's always trying to look on the bright side of life.
Sometimes, during dark, serious, or otherwise negative situations, Gallien will rely on optimism - primarily songs, light humor, etc. - to cope with whatever is happening. Not many people appreciate it, and will tell him to take it seriously, but hey, if he weren't smiling he'd be crying, or freaking out, depending on the particular instance.
That said, it's difficult for him to actually tone down and be serious sometimes. If he has to put aside his humor, anxiety will start to creep in. Gallien is not by any means a strong individual, physically, and he's very easily intimidated by situations that may involve fighting or self-defense. He will attempt to talk his way through a situation before retreating, but strategic retreat is often preferred in his case. Some call him a selfish coward, others call him smart for not getting into fights he's clearly not going to win.
There are a couple of things that will bring out his family's brave streak - the usual good-guy-at-heart cliche of defending children and animals. While Gallien doesn't pretend to be particularly generous, he's a soft boy on the inside. Whenever he can cheer up a sad child with music, it makes his day exponentially better. He's also the type of guy to find some water for a stray pupper, or save a cat from people yelling that its a witch.

Other:
- Mochrie was his mother's family name. She had suggested he take it on when he left home, so he could forge his own path without having the pressure of the Hildegard name behind him. It also somewhat satisfied his father, who wanted a certain degree of separation between his noble line of fighters and the music man.
- Adelaide claims that it was his singing that helped her stay positive through her final and most difficult pregnancy with his younger brother. This is, honestly, what inspired Gallien to truly start devoting his heart to music.
- Gallien's family is literate, which means he was taught how to read. He mostly taught himself about poetry, however, and its mechanics. It helps him create music to sing and writings of his own.
- He has a deep and irrational fear of being on boats/ships. He's never been on a boat, and he doesn't want to change that.
- Don't touch his hair, he's very weird about it. Only people really close to him can touch the hair.
- Gallien is often at first glance mistaken for a woman. This doesn't really bother him, though it can get mildly irritating at times. His brothers give him a hard time for it.
- While he does have a preference for men, he's not open about it since homosexuality is taboo as heck. I'm willing to accept someone targeting him for it in the long run, but try not to assume your character immediately knows, since he does make an effort to stay his ass firmly in the closet.
History:
Born as a second son, Gallien was immediately put under pressure to be like his older brother. The pressure was something he pretty much ignored, much to his father's irritation. His mother found it charming - since they didn't have a daughter, it was nice to have a child of hers so interested in the finer things such as art, reading, and music. After the third child arrived, and her son showed the ability to carry a tune, Adelaide was actually the one to have a lute hand-crafted for her son [but, don't tell Strophius].
He continued to practice, and teach himself about poetry. Often times, Gallien was the errand boy, running to shops and markets for his family while his brothers trained with his father. He gathered attention, mostly unintentionally, by playing his instrument and singing his way to his errands. As the attention grew, his father became more unsettled; people were beginning to talk about the Hildegard's music man, and how he wasn't upholding the family legacy in the slightest.
After confronting his wife, she suggested he uphold the family legacy by singing and telling stories about it, becoming their official bard. After all, who knew the stories better than someone who had grown up with them? Strophius was finally swayed into begrudging acceptance when Gallien agreed to take on his mother's family name, essentially abandoning the high-pressure connection to his family's occupation.
He rarely sees his family anymore except for his mother, who he will still visit now and again while the other three are off doing goodness-knows-what, bearing lovely market items and a special song to sing for her.
