___________+Job Description: As a mercenary, Ethan feels that he has the freedom to make his own choices at his own pace. He takes on smaller paid jobs for the Royalist army by reporting to some of the lower-downs, and is mainly just another disposable foot soldier--after all, one can never have too much enforcement of authority. He spends most of his time patrolling streets idly and ensuring things are in order. There's little reason for him to fight anyone needlessly, so Ethan spends his time making daily rounds within Serasque, and keeping an eye out for trouble. If he tries hard enough, he can protect everyone, no matter who they are… Right?

Ethan is an absolute master at being pushed around--but not unwillingly. In a way, he's a form of a self-proclaimed doormat. It's not that he's bullied into things, but more that he's far too laid-back to argue in the first place. Besides, if someone needs his help, why not give it? Pairing his obedience with his softheartedness is a dangerous combination though; Ethan is far too easy to take advantage of.
Past being perfectly adept at being a naive tool, he's quite deft with the sword--a rapier, to be exact. Despite his larger build, thanks to his lighter weapon he's able to fight with a sharper stance, making him a tick faster. And in battle, that tick could be all he needs. Having learned his swordsmanship from a young age, it's less talent and more practice, but Ethan is rather proficient with his weapon of choice, wielding it wisely. He uses it little though, and although he doesn't allow his skills to become rusty, his rapier is more like an oversized toothpick than a menacing weapon.
+Weapon Description: Ethan holds no attachment to his rapier, [ZERO]. In fact, it was named after that very reason--if he can avoid it, he'd rather Zero stay tucked tightly in his belt and stay there. Fancying himself a guardian of justice, drawing his sword against another is something that Ethan's never done in his life--he's even a bit apprehensive of it despite being a soldier. What sort of protector would willingly hurt another? Perhaps when the time comes for him to do so, the ability to even entertain the notion will have escaped him completely.

___________+Ethan's cape, apart from making him look like a rejected superhero, is actually made of wool, something that's useful for his lifestyle as a traveler. The cords and crystal (empty), however, really are for decorative uses, though. Ethan is actually far more attached to his cape than he is to his weapon. He's often slept under it on a cold night, so he's found it far more useful than Zero.
___________+The crystal on Ethan's necktie is a Class-C crystal, although halfway through its three-month lifetime already. He uses it sparingly, mostly for communication with his employers and the like. However, he is not practiced in the field of magic, so scrying is a loss to him, the One forbid anything requiring a higher level of skill.
___________+There is a second crystal on the top button of Ethan's vest--but it no longer works. It's more of a memento, as it was the crystal he used to attempt to contact his dead mother with as a child--of course, it never worked. He keeps it for sake of attachment, since it was originally a gift from his father.
___________+Ethan's cape fastener…Is just a rock. Along with the rest of his jacket buttons, his cape fastener (which has two clips on the back to hold together his ridiculous costume) is only for sake of fashion (and in Ethan's case, a cheap cape fastener).
+Personality: Ethan is the type to live in the present--he's afraid of what lies ahead, and regretful of the trail he leaves behind--and wouldn't it be better to focus on the life that you live now than the life you will live or have lived before? Ethan believes that nothing will come from brooding over the past or future, and that to truly experience the world around him, living in the moment is the best path of choice. This idea makes him precariously laid-back, however, and his lack of both fore and hindsight causes problems for both him and the people around him. However, he is rarely reckless, and although he lives in the moment, he thinks things through properly and calmly before choosing a path of action.

Ethan is almost stupidly a righteous idealist, selfless and with an overpowering sense of integrity. He follows beneath a constant belief that he can change anything--it all depends on what he chooses to do. However, he is easily misled because of this, and can often be brought to believe that the wrong thing is the right thing to do. Because of this, his sense of justice is skewed, and his naivety proves to be a critical flaw: he is swayed without trouble, and can be convinced effortlessly into believing what he is doing is correct, even when it isn't.

A softhearted and gentle man, Ethan has a constant amount of patience. However, he is far too compassionate at times, and his generally good judgement falls to bits in the face of another suffering. Usually collected, he isn't one to become easily angered, unless the safety of another is in danger. Ethan is easygoing and pliant, going to far extents to help others out of kindness--and so he is easily bossed around and taken advantage of (not that he minds or bothers to take notice in the least). It's rather easy to get along with him, as his warm air is quite welcoming.

However, it wasn't something Ethan had even the slightest talent for--and so his father enrolled him into swordsmanship, where he found a spark that he could pursue.

Raised to believe that his mother, [Lisa] had returned to the One as an angel, he was only confused--even after being given a Class-C crystal from his father and told to use it wisely, the only thing on his mind was to contact the mother whom he had never met. Had she really become an angel again? Was Heaven a pleasant place? It was less out of longing, and more out of a flickering curiosity. After all, what else was he to do with the crystal? It wasn't until after the crystal had been wasted away that he realized just how futile his efforts were. Why was he trying so hard to reach for something that had passed a long time ago when he had all he wanted with him already? What was the use in lamenting over things that had already happened and letting the current world pass him by? Taught with the utmost care, Ethan took his father as his role model, learning values and to be just as tender as his parental counterpart.

After Ethan's father's passing, he kept those beliefs into play. Now, as a mercenary, Ethan believes he can always fight for the greater good, the exact reason why he chose his occupation. As long as he does things for the sake of other people, Ethan is willing to take upon any task--and seeing the kingdom rise up against authority, Ethan is convinced that the perfect way to help both others and his country is to help calm things down. He currently resides in Serasque, taking rounds as a paid enforcement officer and odd jobs should his services be needed. He's admittedly quite low on income though, despite the fact that he doesn't seem to notice it himself. What's a few nights on a bench outside with one's warm, fluffy, beautiful trusty cape?
