Description
* Finally was able to finish this and post something again! I am so happy to be putting something up after so long. Sorry I haven't been putting anything up for months, school and work really take up more time than I am used to, but I do hope the wait was worth it.
* The concept behind this is to give the viewer a relaxed feel, with the impression of a nice breeze, fresh air, and a calm atmosphere. I decided on the title of "Air" because of the emphasis on the feeling of a soft, cool breeze and a huge open, blue sky. I also wanted the title to be simplistic so that the feeling of relaxation carried into the name of the painting as well. The scene is of an open spot under a deep blue sky with a gentle breeze and a calm river passing through the scene reflecting back the colors of the landscape, with soft pink colors for the wood of the bridge and the path's fence.

Technically, the scene is well laid out, if not a particularly original choice of subject or style. The textural detail of the brushstrokes enhances the overall impression of energy and motion. The colours are vibrant and energetic without being jarring or garish, and the gradation of the sky is especially nice.
Regarding the impact and communicativeness of the piece, my first impression of this painting is very favourable. I am struck by how bright and crisp everything is-- the same swift movement is in the central cloud, in the river, and in the brushstrokes themselves. It is this movement that to me is the most impactful aspect of the painting, and what I like most about it.
Reading the description of the concept provided by the artist actually detracted from my reaction to the piece, however, which is why I have detracted from 'Vision.' I do not feel the sense of calm and relaxation that the artist says he is seeking in the composition, but rather it is the high energy and excitement of the emotion and the charged brushwork that I found so attractive. I detracted from 'Technique' because I feel that this particular style was not conducive to the artist's intent, and that perhaps a softer, more blended approach would have been more effective.
Overall, I find this piece very appealing, especially when regarded on its own apart from the artist's commentary. It is something I find my eye drawn over again and again.

This is a cool painting and the cloud formation in the sky is very creative along with the rest of it that makes it stand out just right.

Very nice. I like the cure of details you put in it and I think that the brush stroke is quivering and make the scene dynamic. It seems to see the clouds and the leaves of trees move with the wind.
