Hooray! Here is my 15th part of my Ginga fan comic - Ginga Goruden Tantei Nazo.

So, this is where our heroes have their first fight against Ketsueki-yama.
Paru wants to join in the fight, and Nazo also wishes to stay with her to protect her, but Eiyu says that Ketsueki-yama would not approve if an eligible warrior would not fight him. Regarding the element where Nazo has to leave his adopted daughter to prove himself, I know this sounds a bit weird on paper, but I was just thinking that, as much as Eiyu understandably despises Ketsueki-yama, he gives him some kind of respect as an opponent - in the same way too warriors have an understanding with each other in a duel and they feel obligated to fight fair - and Eiyu feels the need to show his old foe how strong he and his companions have become. And with Sonia volunteering to look after Paru in her father's place, I was NOT going for any sexist agenda with this - in this comic series, I am actually trying to give female characters as active a role as the males, and Tsuikyu has said that he will swap places with Sonia, allowing her to take his place partway into the fight.

And here's another thing about Paru's character - something I have planned for her, as well as being adorable in her puppy tendencies is that she doesn't want to come across as a liability and wants to contribute. She understands the concerns of everyone around her for her safety, but she feels self conscious about others having to bend over backwards to protect her.

I'm sorry if this gets repetitive, but I really do love drawing the bears roaring and dogs howling before they dive into battle. And as much as I suck writing dialogue, I did like writing Beaumont and Katame's dialogue in this page - Beaumont, as stuck up as he can be at times, is actually excited to see his colleague join him in a fight (and yes, this is Nazo's FIRST real fight - he's been more of a stay at home father up to this point and has not been much of a fighter), and Katame, despite being Eiyu's advisor and trying to help him stay calm, is surprisingly excited to take part in a fight against these bears - perhaps he's holding back his rage and strength for just the right moment....

I really liked drawing the part with Nazo adapting to this new battlefield and charging in, coming up with a different angle to the original problem to solve it in an unexpected way. Nazo - nerd rage in the form of a Bull Terrier!

Oh, and Yuki is as kooky as ever.

But there's no better way to end a comic page with a shock cliffhanger - Ketsueki-yama can somehow understand and speak a dog's language! How can this be? Where did he learn to speak dog? And what are the consequences for what he's been doing over the years as a result of this?

In part 16 - the plot will thicken...

Oh, shit just got real.   Nothing better than a classic Ginga bear-dog battle.

Interesting that Ketsueki-yama can speak dog language. Was this influenced by the different bear language in the manga or did you just come up with the concept on your own? Because the final Ginga series The Last Wars has dogs that translate through understanding bear language, and Ginga Wiki mentions one of the characters having past friendships with some bears. Yes, this does hint some possibilities for finally some good bear characters in Ginga.

Never gets old.

Ah - the manga has that as well? I will be perfectly honest, I was not aware of that - I just came up with the idea on my own - making this the mother of coincidences! I've never read The Last Wars, but I agree with you that this hints at the possibilities for more development on the bear characters and some of them being heroes rather than villains.
Which just happens to be something ELSE I have planned for my comic in the future.

Yup. The concept isn't entirely new though because I believe Akakabuto had some dialogue in the final battle of GNG, but still. Coincidences.
