I think Sentinel Carnivore sounds good enough! I mean, there's not much else to call it... Also, your stuff isn't crappy, it's great! I feel glad that there is someone ELSE who likes and appreciates Sentinels as much as me! I'm kinda obsessed with a custom collection and a whole bunch of stuff related to Sentinels from (Bungie's) Halo franchise.

Lol. I have played halo 4 and completed all ten Spartan Ops season 1 chapters, as well as reading ALL 3 of Greg Bear's "Forerunner Trilogy" (including Silentium). In Halo 4, 343 actually made TWO semi-major appearances for Sentinels, one in campaign, fighting a small mob of Covenant (kinda weakly), and a second appearance with MUCH more promising results in Spartan Ops, where a SWARM of Sentinels flies out on a map when you are being assaulted by an ARMY of Prometheans, and actually DOES something for once: they kill ALL of the Prometheans within a few seconds WITHOUT assistance from the player. Pretty sweet, right? Only, this is one of only two fighting appearances in the ENTIRE game (as of now). In Silentium, there is little more said about the Sentinels unfortunately, as in their appearance. They are mentioned semi-frequently for combat support, like: "... hundreds Sentinels and [something ships] rise in an attempt to defend the Greater Ark from the massive Flood forces closing in around them..." Something like that was written by Greg Bear near the end. Stuff like that is mostly all that is said about Sentinels, like them following or "rising" or defending some kind of installation. Nothing about their appearance, so no art for Silentium (unfortunately...). Also, I believe that 343 Guilty Spark's human name was Chakas, with an S at the end.

now that is pretty cool... Sentinels wasting Promethean Knights without the player's help? They don't look like they're capable of it (too scrawny and skeletal looking - and they seem to be smaller than the varieties from previous games). I had a look on youtube and found some Sentinels flying around in Spartan Ops but they weren't doing anything lol except turn up at the end of the chapter. But, this is my favourite Sentinel video www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ra1sY...
Didn't think there would be any Sentinels in those Halo books, aside from some sentences or two with a generic mention of em... I do think they are used by the different Forerunner rates as Sentinel classes - Halo 1, 2 and 3 are all Builder class Sentinels, those scrawny ones in Halo 4 must be Lifeworker Forerunner Sentinels.

I have seen the "Be Human" video by Zukan before, and it is one of my favorite videos, especially when the part about the proposal ring looking like a Halo came up, that was hilarious and sad at the same time. Also, I do think the Halo 4 sentinels are lifeworker class, like you said, as they are more thin and are always blue-lighted and controlled by the Librarian, who is a lifeworker. The video you talked about where Sentinels come out at the end of the Spartan Ops mission is the SAME moment as when I said that they killed the heck out of the Prometheans. Maybe they looked like they didn't do too much because the guy who made the video already killed most of the Prometheans himself before the Sentinels came out. I, on the other hand, camped in the base by myself and then the Sentinels just happened to show up and save the day!

Thats what I would've done, just sit there and let the Sentinels do all the work. Yeah, guy and his group killed most stuff by the time the Sentinels arrived. Sounds like those floating circles (watchers) are sitting targets for Sentinels. I did spot them blasting something to bits on top of a building. With that much shooting it must've been a promethean knight, because it got its butt handed to it on a silver platter! When I had H4 I despised using promethean weapons, they were so weak and underpowered... Sentinel beam weapons are far better to use...

Oh, a GROUP??? Wow. I always play solo, so I die a lot lol, but if that guy had a group, there's no point in the Sentinels in that case. I was being overrun at the time so the Sentinels were awesome! Also, the Sentinels in that mission were INVINCIBLE!!! FINALLY some POWER given to those under-appreciated robots. Also, in campaign, if you manage to kill a Sentinel, a tiny little blue portal swirly-thing appears where you killed it and its parts disappear. Weird... that means no Sentinel Beam... Also, I actually like the Prometheans, but just not as much as Sentinels, and I must disagree with you, as I think the Promethean weapons are just fine and I love them more than the human or covenant guns. Especially since the Incineration Cannon (343 Industries' name) is actually overpowered, not underpowered, as the ventilation time is minimal and the blast has a second blast/aftershock with secondary projectiles, allowing for double mayhem!

yeah, I noticed that weird little thing H4 Sentinels do when they get shot at. it looks like some kind of teleport they vanish into rather than being destroyed. The only weapon I liked in H4 was the auto sentry, it did pretty good against prometheans. Unfortunately I can't stand those things and the robot dogs, their history is unbelievably bad (promethean knights are human beings). If I hadn't got rid of H4 I might've given spartan ops a go, but its dlc only (and I don't have xbl!!)

CISsuperdroid In reply to drskytower [2013-07-11 12:08:33 +0000 UTC]
Not all the Prometheans were humans, the Didact just went a little nuts and "Composed them" into them because he didn't have enough of his OWN soldiers to turn into those half-machines. Also, the H4 box COMES WITH a Spartan Ops disk to download the stuff. BUT the chapter with the sentinels is one of the last that you need XBL for so...

drskytower In reply to CISsuperdroid [2013-07-13 04:49:45 +0000 UTC]
That's very interesting... the copy of H4 I got had nothing but the campaign on it with some dlc as long as you went onto xbl to download it. I must've got the absolute cheapest copy out there lol.
π: 0 β©: 1
CISsuperdroid In reply to drskytower [2013-07-13 11:40:39 +0000 UTC]
Where did you get the disk? I bought my copy at the week of the release at Target, and it had 2 disks, the main campaign stuff disk and the multiplayer disk, which you had to install separately to use on the Main disk, which also included the first five episodes of Spartan Ops as well as multiplayer, but since you don't use XBL, I guess you may have not used the second disk if there was one...? Or was there no second disk? Maybe it's an exclusive "first-few-buys" type of thing, but it has no special packaging for the disk...

drskytower In reply to CISsuperdroid [2013-07-14 00:40:14 +0000 UTC]
I had H4 for a week before i got rid of it. But it only had one disk. Everything else was DLC only. Don't have xbl so it was worthless. I thought spartan ops was dlc only as well.

CISsuperdroid In reply to drskytower [2013-07-15 16:48:53 +0000 UTC]
Ah. I think XBL is required to play Spartan ops now, as it's in the "Infinity" section of the main menu with all the other MP stuff. But I guess you shouldn't care, since it's already at the dump! Good find for a hobo with an Xbox and Xbox Live, tho!

yep, that'd be about right! I swapped it for Borderlands 2, which I still have and enjoy playing! I do remember seeing that Spartan ops on the disk though, never bothered looking at it as xbl was required.

I think multiplayer is awesome in the newer games, as long as you don't rage when you die with double heavy weapons... fully loaded... on your way to the enemy flag... Wait, what are we talking about? lol

Hey, I just saw Pacific Rim yesterday! I thought it was awesome, but as soon as I saw the Asian guys with the mech with three arms, I sadly knew they were gonna die. They were secon- no, TERTIARY characters who did almost nothing, but I liked their three-armed mech! I also think your idea for the Sentinel Jaegar sounds pretty cool. Grievous-inspired, maybe?

drskytower In reply to CISsuperdroid [2013-07-21 07:27:53 +0000 UTC]
oh yeah, sort of like that but with Sentinel forearms lol. I already have a name for it Lazarus F-6, it chooses its pilots lolz and is big as a destroyer ship (or just over twice the size of the space shuttle). This will be interesting to draw!
π: 0 β©: 1
CISsuperdroid In reply to drskytower [2013-07-21 15:32:06 +0000 UTC]
Whoa. If it's as big as a Destroyer, I'm not sure it even counts as a jaegar, I think it may as well be a Sentinel-class Forerunner warship (with advanced built-in ai)!

Sorry for the late reply (no computer bawwwl!)... I'm now practicing my Sentinel freehand-style drawing so I can get their proportions right. The wings are the hardest to draw, they're like airplane wings (I find drawing bat/bird wings far easier to draw but machine wings? Nope... facepalm). I'm using my Sentinel OC Lazarus 105 as my model lolz. Sentinels are still the hardest things I've ever drawn, despite the practicing...

CISsuperdroid In reply to drskytower [2013-08-10 14:17:06 +0000 UTC]
Its fine! I understand your predicament. However, what "wings" do you mean? u mean the wings that are behind the arms that go backwards and make a boomerang-shape each?
π: 0 β©: 1
drskytower In reply to CISsuperdroid [2013-08-17 08:19:15 +0000 UTC]
that's them! They're actually stabilisers and the glowing 'elbows' on them are where the Sentinel generates its anti-gravity field. I quite enjoy writing stories about Sentinels that highlights all this technical stuff about them (because both Bungie and 343 Industries have never made Sentinel stuff proper canon, which lets me make up anything i like lololol). Drawing a Sentinel with artificial skin, muscle etc is even harder. Lazarus has come a long way from that bizzare thing I've put up on this website in the early days.
π: 0 β©: 1
CISsuperdroid In reply to drskytower [2013-08-17 16:28:03 +0000 UTC]
Lol! You're right about the little-Sentinel-canon-stuff! I've never really heard much about them, as they are such minor characters. It's a shame cuz I only ever like vague things that no one else does! xD And I wouldn't even think about drawing organic stuff on sentinels. Just an odd combo to me. Also, when I see some Sentinels flying I see like thrust-line-things coming from the tips of the stabilizers like they are some kind of propulsion drive at the end of each wing. Also, the glowing "elbow" corners of the "wings" are the ones that get covered up when the Sentinels fold up into the "idle" form right? And by covered up I mean by the arms, as when the arms fold down to the sides they cover the lights.
π: 0 β©: 1
drskytower In reply to CISsuperdroid [2013-08-20 07:32:32 +0000 UTC]
yeah, that's right... the arms fold into the forewings and hide those lights. Sentinels can do evasive boost in halo 2, to avoid incoming fire, rockets etc and it creates that pretty glowing effect from the propulsion unit at the back and the 'wing elbows' lol. If you observe a Sentinel's behavior in Halo 2, it will also do an evasive boost to get into cover, flush you out of cover, chase after you (or Flood, or Covenant lolz). The Sentinels that will actively chase down their targets are those gold coloured Sentinel Majors - I've fought them on legendary and they are absolutely horrible to fight - as bad as fighting elites! In fact, fighting Sentinels on legendary in Halo 2 is not recommended - you're supposed to run from them and not engage them in combat.Β
And another thing I discovered when playing Halo2 is hiding in dark shadows from Sentinels doesn't work at all! They can see you in the dark! Yet i can hide from grunts, jackals and elites, and none of them spot me. This also goes for the Flood. So Sentinels have night vision enabled lolz So something to remember is when playing as the Arbiter, and you activate active camo, try not to move around in front of a Sentinel because it can somehow see you! Active camo only works on Sentinels if you stay absolutely still and don't move.

CISsuperdroid In reply to drskytower [2013-08-25 00:05:50 +0000 UTC]
Lol! Man, the Sentinels sound really cool in H2, kinda sucks cuz you'd think the ai's would be IMPROVED for H3, but they are so boring in H3 in battle. And I hate fighting Sentinels period, ESPECIALLY since their beams deplete ur shield in, like, ONE second XD! Also, the Sentinels are robots, so they can see like infrared and all those color spectrums, probably, with their one photoreceptor (eye), which explains why they see you in the dark, as well as in active camo! And when you think about it, you'd think that active camo, like all other Covenant high-tech stuff, would somehow have a way to mask heat signatures, but NO! But since you say it works if you stay still, I think that A.C. (not air conditioning lol) fails when you move on Sentinels cuz their eyes are probably very sensitive to movement, so they can probably see the shimmer in the air of the camo in your silhouette. Same thing with players, they can see the shimmer of A.C. players, so its pretty reasonable that Sentinels can see you too, it's just that Grunts and Jackals and stuff can't see cuz they're dumb!

sorry for the late reply... still have no computer bawwwwl.
Yeah, that's right! Halo 2 is great for observing Sentinels. You can blast them out of Sentinel launchers and they fold up into their defensive posture to protect themselves from the explosions/impact. They hit the ground and lie there (even upsidedown) and they will right themselves perfectly when they fly up into the air again. Sentinels aren't like security bots (Bioshock), Manhacks etc, they're quite a bit smarter. Its quite amazing what Bungie did with em in Halo2... and yeah, they can see my men even when they've got active camo engaged.
