Description Past weekend, I, stupid and chaotic as I am, traveled back to my parents house. Equipped with everyhting I thought an 18 year old student would need when spending a weekend at her parents' place; labtop, tablet, labtop accu, labtop mouse, mobile phone... Yeah, that's about it. That and food.
However I forgot my tablet pen. Teehee no art for me!

However next day when I went to visit my grandparents with my mom I got out of the car a bit earlier to walk to my grandparents home with my dog. And I passed this river where a group of geese usually roam and found they'd been moulting, and the entire place was covered in gorgeous feathers! Seriously there were so many of them. Eventually I decided to only go for primaries so that I'd be able to get home and still I arrived at my grandparent's with half a wings worth of feathers.

Naturally, this was the perfect opportunity to try featherpainting for once

By the way, this painting's based on this old work of mine: fav.me/d5mson4 if you remember it you're awesome.

Yay, I remember the old painting, I'm awesome! It's the painting that led me to your art (through Gewalgon), so that makes it all the more awesome to see it in a different shape. Great job on this feather painting, it must be really hard and I think you totally succeeded.

Woah that is trippy! I've never seen a feather painting before, let alone one with so much detail in a fairly small space.  How did you do it?

By using very tiny brushes mostly XD it took a while. Though this feather is still fairly big, about the size of my lower arm.

Really beautiful! Is painting feathers particularly hard?

Well the featherhairs may split apart but if you stabilize them with paint or hairspray it's doable. You also have to work with a rather weird texture. '
Yet the hardest part is te size. You just have to work on a very small scale. This feather was still rather big. The size of my underarm. But you still have to be rather precize.
Why? Are you going to try it too? Would be cool

Interesting! I've never thought of doing that. I've got a large collection of feathers; I should try the hairspray trick sometime.
I've never done it before: it'd be interesting to try feather, bark & rock painting when I have a free moment.

Rock and bark? That is really cool! Yeah we've gotta do more painting, for sure!

Looks both awesome and original. Never saw a feather being painted before. The perspective is good and you really have depth. Ver nice! Ow and I also thought this was one of the feathers you found when we were at MarianneWolfs house.

The pretty swan feathers, yeah. Unfortunately I forgot those at her house. O well, these feathers are very dark so it worked better for this scene anyways.
O there's plenty of artists doing them actually. Just browse it on Da, such gorgeous stuff *stares into space longingly*

Great, I really love it.
The feather looks really beautiful. I love the colours and the wolves, the wolves seem to be moving for real. The perspective is great too.

I want to do  feather painting as well some time but I don't have practised painting skills nor good paint. I am trying to focus on my writing as well, I get distracted easily enough without starting new projects. Maybe some time later.
You forgot the feathers you gathered when you were at my place, by the way.

Yeah the pretty swan feathers. A shame really. Well if you happen to get writers block and do think about painting them use acrylics, every tutorial I've found so far recommended acrylics.
Also you can stabilize the featherhairs with cheap hairspray
