Lost in the California desert Bryan awoke and walked until he found a road. He followed this road

south (completely by accident) towards Los Angeles. Despite having no food or water he was able to

walk there. He had no idea why, nor did he care at the moment.

In fact the only thing he knew for sure was his name; Bryan...something. What was his last name? For

the time being he just assumed he had done something to deserve this fate- would figure it out from

there.
In the distance he saw someone; an angel in red. She was also following the road, looking as lost as

him.

"Where you headed?" he asked casually. She looked afraid and took a few steps away.

Anna looked at this man; he was covered in strange scars, but he seemed like someone she needed to

travel with; "do I know you?"

"I don't think so." he paused as they both were thinking hard about what to do next; "I'm Bryan."

"anna...." she said, confidenty shaking his hand. "There is someone I’m looking for," she said pulling

out an picture of Nina Williams.

"who is she?"

"I don’t know, but I think I'm meant to kill her."

"is that why you're going to LA?" he asked.

"I guess. why, what's your story?" she asked.

"not sure, but i could see myself with you-- as your back up i mean."

She agreed. Anna had a gut feeling something would happen; good, bad, - she was not certain, but this

was destiny.

And her feeling proved correct. They arrived in a suburb of LA face to face with a billboard; Nina

Heartford- attorney at law. It was Nina. Why was she doing this exactly? Was this the reason Anna was

sent to kill her?

She went to a computer and located the law firm's address. She would break in at night to see what she

could find; but she would also need a base of operations. With what money she had she got her and

Bryan a hotel room.

She told him to stay in the room so at least she would have someplace safe to return to. In Nina's

office there were all kinds of things that defined Nina the "local attorney"; a diploma, date book,

records of clients,-- but then Anna saw what she was looking for.

A sniper rifle. This was defiantly Nina Williams.

Anna took the gun, any ammo, the date book, and whatever money-related items she could find then got

the heck out of there.

Meanwhile Bryan watched tv and waited for her. The tv was on CNN by default so he picked up the cheap

remote and tried to change the channel; it was stuck. He pushed harder and snapped the remote in

half.

It was a very cheap remote but that was still unusually impressive. Then he noticed the cut on his

palm.

He washed his hand, but as the blood cleared he saw....metal? There was metal in his hands? He took a

piece of the broken plastic remote and cut a little further; his wrist was metal.

He cut a little more, then more, by the time Anna returned he was shivering, bleeding- but also

healing. Neither of person knew what to say.

She kissed his lips, holding him for longer then she thought she would. There was something about this

man; a beauty not of this world.

"i have to leave." he said in a soft breath. He did not push her away. they held each other for

moments that felt like hours.

With no words Anna got up and lay on the bed next to all the items she stole. She needed to catch her

breath; her heart was racing. He lay next to her and held her hand; strong, powerful, comforting.

She closed her eyes, begging her soul to sleep, if only to ease the pain in her heart.
Anna knew when she woke up Bryan would be gone.

It was for the best; her mind needed to be clear for what she needed to accomplish.

Bryan stole a car and headed towards South Dakota. A part of him just knew needed to go in that

direction; in the middle of the badlands was where he would find answers.
