Beautiful colors! I love the beach feel here. The character might be a little too noticeable though, so make sure to use some darker colors for shading her. Since you have a sunset in the background she shouldnt be so 'highlighted' Your ocean could use some stronger/ sharper highlights too, so you can tell that the water and sky are separated. Try using some yellow/orange brush strokes, and skater them a bit. The sand couldnt use some shading too. highlight it in some places, because its wet. and make the borderline of the ocean and she sand a little sharper too. Dont blurr it too much, or it just looks like more land. Other than that this is great overall! From a distance, the background looked like a photograph. It is stunning, and the colors are absolutely marvelous. I love the palm tree silhouettes, and how everything blends in well together.
The character itself is beautiful as well. I'm not a big fan of waterdogs, but this design is very pretty in your style, and the colors are pleasing to my eyes. However, the character does not seem to be a part of the background. Instead, she looks as though she was cut out and slapped onto a photograph. I believe this is mostly due to the shading. While the shading is already rather lovely, it does not match with the situation of the background. It should definitely be darker. Also, her paws should be kicking up/sinking into some sand. It is a beach, after all.
