Just announced! In the wake of Galactus' devastating attack on the Ultimate Universe, an all-new team of Ultimates will step up--Spider-man (Miles Morales), Cloak & Dagger, Spider-Woman, Bombshell and Kitty Pryde. It's dramatically different from the highly detailed, realistic stuff I've been doing recently, but the response has been phenomenal so far! So it turned out to be a VERY happy accident. Let's see where this goes...

I enjoyed the book as well. Thought the dialogue felt real and honest. But let's get more about Jessica's change of costume stat! I need to know why she did it/what being Black Widow means to her personally. Definitely having fun playing around in this new style, and fortunately Marvel is letting me run with it. Currently working on #6, but I don't yet have a sense of how the fan community is reacting to it versus other things I've done. Also not sure if the average fan is as understanding as you are about an artist flipping between styles. Guess it worked okay for Kaare Andrews, but there aren't a lot of other examples to go by. Guess we'll see what happens!

ah yes! you were also the one who did the recent spider-man deadpool picture! it's amazing!! i have so many comics of Spider-man in my book case and it excites me every time to come across an official marvel artist in deviantart! I'm psyched! It's just what the Ultimate U. really needs--a fresh start with situations you'd never see in 616. The Ultimate U. works best when everything's unpredictable, and that's what this post-Cataclysm era's aiming for specifically.

Absolutely. I think the whole Marvel Now! approach--remixing series with fresh new creators and storylines--has been tremendously successful, both for retailers and comic readers. A good time to be reading comics.

I like how you did spidey's webbing, and his mask.
That's also a really good design for Cloak and Dagger. Did you get to envision them or were there other existing images of them you had to match? Either way, great cover.

Y'know, I'd never drawn Cloak and Dagger before, and this is just what seemed cool to me--lots of dark tendrils for Cloak, and lots of light bloom on Dagger. Hope I get the chance to draw them again, see how far I can take it.

Well, yes and no. I had 2 nights to work on this, which is way less time than normal, so I knew that the usual painted thing was out. Got the idea for silhouettes because that's all I had time for, but true, after that it was planned. Never thought I'd be working in a style like this though, and I'm completely surprised by the positive reaction. I worried a lot at first that people would look at this as half-finished or something.
