Just revealed in the new Marvel catalog: www.newsarama.com/20360-marvel…In this issue, Jessica Drew (the former Spider-Woman) takes up the mantle of the Black Widow. People seemed to like it last time, so I'm continuing to explore the more graphic, posterized style we came up with for Issue #1.

I like this outfit for Jessica Drew in the All-New Ultimates.

i don't know if it is (I am about to read United We Stand Divided We Fall, been with the ultimate universe since the beginning) either way its a great design choice but sadly probably means Monica either dies, becomes evil, or both but tis the norm in the ultimate universe..*sigh*

I've always wondered what the supposed "logic" was behind moves like this when one hero isn't a part of that heroes legacy...I totally get Robin one day stepping into the Bat-boots, but something like this...I bet that's gotta be strange.

I'm okay with it. Not every hero has an understudy, and it's interesting to see what different types of people bring to a familiar mantle.

Right, right, me too, just pointing out that's gotta be weird for the character. I bet sometimes they feel like a total imposter. Kind of like Flash Gordon "Venom" and this particularly.

Flash-Venom is a good example. Thought that was REALLY out of left field when I first heard about it, but now I actually prefer the Flash version to the original. Wouldn't have called that, but it was handled well.

Thanks! It was interesting--Marvel wanted to use a version of Spidey's famous black costume + Widow symbol, but all the other details came together during the development of this cover. We had a couple different versions, but the editors, writer, interior artist, and I hashed out almost on the fly.
