See. See how I'm sticking it to 'the man' by doing things...OUT OF ORDER. Even though I owed this for about forever and a half. Um...yeah.
So, the story of this lovely little picture is that I promised the rape mommies that they'd all get a lovely drawing of themselves with their new scar, on a plain background. I lied. I had this in the works since the last rape baby (Loki) was posted on a ref-sheet.
I got SO frustrated with it, I let it go for a long time. Finally, over the past few days, I mucked through it and thar it is. In all of it's kind of pathetic glory. Yeah, it's dark. Thanks for that newsflash.
I tried to convey in this picture the mother-child dynamics of each pair, as well as some subtle things like...Dubheasa being out in the rain (alone aside from DS) because she was the only one to reject her child. Thane is laying down and looking off wistfully towards DS...because she's the only one who is anywhere near comfortable with him Sick as it is. Just think about all of this while you look at this picture. It might distract you from how ugly it is.
I hope you chickies like it though. I put a lot of effort into it, in spite of how it looks.

Everyone deals with traumatizing things differently. xD Oasis is probably the best adjusted of them all, going back to a normal life...Madarone as well, since she had Saenic to support her in his odd way. I have NO idea how anyoone could derive comfort from him.

Stunning! The rain and shadows gives it a dark mood. But it's still very heart warming. Mommies are so good! I like how each pair represents their relationship. Truly amazing!

I like your thinking! I actually think that there can be so much more moods in darkness. It can be love, sadness, anger and so on. I think that sometimes it's kinda weird with a sad picure on a beautiful day, when the sun shines.

Oh man, this is wonderfully depressing. I love all the emotions that are crammed into this one scene, how you can see everyone's reactions and relationships, it's all so subtle, i have no idea how much work that had to take. I know everyone said it's really dark, and it is, but i like that about it...night is dark, and there is no artificial light coming from OMFGGLOWINGTREE or something. It grounds it in reality, draws you in and says "yes, you are really there." I want to hug every last one of them to death.

Aw D: Maybe get your computer color corrected? I think there's this software called spider or something, you hang a little device in front of your monitor and it will auto correct the colors and such. Or mess with the gamma and contrast. Idk, I used to get a lot of comments saying things were too bright x_x

Oh wow it really does look like you put a lot of your time into this. But I think it was worth it because the picture is just stunning, each and every character is beautifully drawn and I worth staring at!
I love how the mom's are so protective of their children! I think my favourite is Oasis because she's just that beautiful and I love how you made the 'stars'on her back glow. The one with the wings is pretty damn amazing as well!

OMG< SO MUCH LOVE I CAN'T EVEN THINK STRAIGHT! I was SO exploding with anticipation because I first saw this on my cell phone and it was too dark to see anything other than the fact that Aria and Cualii were in there somewhere! I'm SO JAZZED now that I can see it in my full computer screen glory! I really honestly love this, dispite you thinking otherwise! And it's SOOOO fastinating to see the mother child dynamics here. Aria is so beautiful and just gorgeous, and even at this younge age you can totally see Cualii's adoration and devotion to her. I also love Oasis and Loki, he's tooo freaking cute, and how you had Thane's missing leg over Tiamut is so cute! I simly LOVE Aria's hair too, you are SOOO MUCH MORE PRO at showing curls, which is exactly how I piture her. I ADORE THIS, and YOU..as you already know. Also it's funny that you'd post this, because it just inspired me even more to do the mother daughter picture for them that I was secretly planning.

Cualli is doing her hero worship thing. Lol...yeah, she and Anshar are the two without very STRONG mother-child relationships. I mean, it's strong on Cualli's end, but I'm not sure about Aria. xD That's why she has kind of a hesitant look on her face.
Curls are pretty hard to convey. And DS has a fetish for them on top of it. ._. -kicks him-

I think that Aria would probably indeed love her daughter, but at the same time, she's so burried in her own pain and inner turmoil that it would be hard for her to even pretend to be strong for the girl. Cualii would probably be the one who is Aria's support system rather than the other way around. I also picture Aria hanging around the church were she first met Evondria, almost as if she's too afraid to leave now, so she's also probably on constant edge with DS so near. I need to work on curls more. SO many of my characters are supposed to have them, and it doesn't come across as well as I'd like! LOL And yeah, guess I sorta spoiled that LOL but it will probably be a little while anyways given my slow pace these days. You're not the only one having activity and art issues XD.

I adore your shading style. For someone that hates coloring you are madly good at it, you ass.
The relationships between mother and child are so well portrayed; I love how Oasis is sort of standing over Loki to further shield him from the rain, just like she shields him from everything in life.
