Description The red brick building in the foreground was built in 1914 as a Franklin Automobile dealership.  Look closely toward the right on the second floor level and you can see a remnant of the dealership.  A Ford dealership took its place.  The apartment building to the far left was built in 1920.  I've seen several references that it was a house of "ill-repute" but no primary sources I trust.

The Cedars is a Dallas neighborhood located just south of downtown.  Originally an area of up-scale single-family homes the area transitioned to light industry, printing, and warehousing during the late 19th and early 20th century. It spiraled downward with the construction of the Thornton Freeway which isolated the neighborhood from downtown.    Currently the area is seeing a resurgence as new housing and business are coming into the area.  A number of the existing buildings are being preserved but repurposed into lofts, galleries, or small businesses.
