KAISA Background Information:
Most of Kaisa’s early life was unremarkable, at least until she ran away from home shortly after her fourteenth birthday to actively seek out adventure. This ended up failing to live up to expectations, since as she’s opined since then, it is impossible to synthesize genuine excitement. Kaisa came to employment at the Decoder’s Lodge when Vladmir gave her the gig directly. She had originally planned on passing through the area to find work, only buying a one-night stay at the Lodge on check-in, but she was more than pleased with the idea of work coming to her. She has stayed at Decoder’s Lodge from then to the present interval, and while she will occasionally head to the major settlements, she says her place of work is where she feels genuinely at peace, like a resort she can relax at while working as part of the staff.
Part of Kaisa’s lackadaisical attitude towards existence ever since her failed attempt as a thrill seeker stems from an obsession with philosophy from an early part of her education. Reading books is one of her favourite past-times, a hobby she often shares in with Romanov’s son, much to Romanov’s irritation. She tends to live in her own head more than most, and she has spent almost her whole life working, reading, and daydreaming. She has ultimately decided that truth is important but unknowable, and therefore she thinks pursuing the truth is a noble goal but isn’t a path she is suited for in the slightest. Therefore she takes things as they come, and is more than happy to have steady employment which lets her mind wander. She is actually surprisingly intelligent when it comes to debate and self-reflection, atypical for someone who lacks conventional smarts, and is particularly good at defending herself from others who think she is living a sheltered lifestyle.
Kaisa takes her moniker from a character in a certain well-known Soviet novel who could be described as frivolous in every sense of the word, even to the plot itself. While she admits her nickname might have been supposed to be insulting, it has taken on an endearing context over the years, since she admits that she is fine with being a side character to her own life’s story.
