Description
This painting has been done for a tutorial I'm writing for psd magazine.It's another mermaid, but I've done it on purpose since lots of people had asked me how to paint sea creatures/hair/translucent skin/gills (I've tried to put all these things in one picture).
I hope you'll like it
The composition may look unusual and a little bit empty but since I'm planning to use it as a wallpaper (you can also download it to use it as a wallpaper if you like it), I've put some "empty space" (not really empty, but dark enough to avoid being too distracting) on the right part (I have a mac computer.... for the PC users who would like to use it as a desktop wallpaper, you can flip it horizontally, I had totally forgotten that it was the contrary on windows....)

I like this a lot....
it has got that unearthly quality that all deep sea photographs seem to possess... given that fact the subject is human (or at least very human in appearance - just not quite enough to be comfortable) it seems to amplify this surreal and often disassociating experience of watching programmes about the creatures of the deep.
my only though would that it would take the creep factor into the next solar system if she was staring more directly at the viewer ... due to the ambiguous expression, it could seem as mere curiosity, or a sign of aggression.
Again, a very good looking and well executed piece.

This is ridiculously creepy. Seriously, excellent work. If it evokes strong enough emotions I can't look at it for very long periods of time, it's a brilliant piece of art. lol Even though that doesn't make sense, really. But all of the details make this piece seem realistic, like something out of a nightmare. You did really well.

EEHHEEEHEE!!! (I'm squealing with laughter lol) I LOVE how alien this looks. I fine monstrous mermaids to be more fascinating than the typical pretty ones. And I love the jellyfish. They satisfy my latest interest (Which happens to be jellyfish lol)

I love this and how she is coming through the jellyfish. But I have a small problem with the description. You said mermaid even though she has tentacles. Beings like this one are called Cecaelia and are differentiated from mermaids by the lower half of their body. But I'm in a perfectionist mood so don't mind me and my rambling.

You might not want to hear this, but in all honesty, the just whole color-scheme and just the stylization makes me think that sorta creature COULD fit into Bioshock as something you'd see like slamming itself into a widow screaming at you or just rushing by. Just plain WONDERFULLY MADE!
