Edited : Larger version with watermark. I refined the hand, haid, adjusted the color scheme, added some bubbles. Print updated (no watermark on it of course). This painting is a concept for a videogame project about Atlantis. The characters are Atlas, the king of Atlantis and a Nereid : Dione.
It had to be a little bit similar to "Deep Sea Creature" because this one has become part of the game aswell (so I've added the same features on the faces under the eyes, a similar composition, etc...)
This is some kind of a "speed painting" (10 hours...) and yeah, I know about the blurry hand... boo boo, it's ugly ^^ I'll fix it when I have more time ) so it's a little bit messy... I had to meet a deadline so I've not had time to make it look better and I'm a little bit too busy at the moment to work more on it.

Photoshop CS and my beloved wacom, my ex-bf used as a ref for Atlas face and a mirror for the Nereid's face (each member of the team will be converted into one of the game characters and since my name is very similar to the one of this Nereid, I've painted myself as her More coming soon! )

This is beautiful. Atlas sorta looks like Pan^^. Same jaw structure and beard. I really love how you put so much detail into your work. It's absolutely phenomenal.

The mother of pearl sheen in their eyes makes them look even more otherworldly and thank you for adding the air bubbles. Reminds us that they are infact underwater.

Sometimes when you paint hair, it looks a bit messy and that there's too much but here it's perfect. It has the same attributes of hair in water but isn't overloaded with too many strands. I love the luminous glow that is in their faces and eyes. The scales on the neck strike me as floating, as though they aren't really attached to anything. I think that maybe they just need to wrap around some more but I'm having a hard time discerning the exact problem. Atlantis' reaching hand seems random to me but if it has to be there then so be it. I will point out though that it's anatomically incorrect. I take it that that is his left hand reaching over. The fingers stretch out too far. If you make a claw, you'll see that your fingers have a lot more bend. Also, where did the thumb go? I like how you have the bubbles coming from his nostrils but I would think that means he has lungs, otherwise they'd come out of his gills but perhaps his gills are his lungs. I like the sternness in his face. It shows his confidence and power and the hint of fear on Nereid's face compliments that idea of strength in Atlantis. It would only seem right as well that she would have bubbles coming out of her nostrils too but that would probably just get distracting on her because she's not the main focus. That giant bubble by her head IS distracting though. You wouldn't happen to have a bubble painting tutorial would you?
