I bought this and I can truly say... I love it!
I use it for everything!!! It's got enough room for my art instruction books, my sketchbooks, and supply case which is like 4.5x11. It's a good buy for those who want to show off deviantart, pack up the art desk for travel and go.

i have stuffed two mead academie (8.5x11 inches) sketch books, one 9x12 sketchpad, 4 art instruction books (the impact art books and yishan li), a notebook, a blick artbin sketch-pac, my phones and a bottle of water, sometimes a lil more and other times a lil less. oh and once a portfolio. It's great

Sorry to jump in but would a 17" laptop fit in it with one sketch pad and a pencil pouch?

I just tested it out- it should fit fine however for a 17" laptop the drawstrings probably will leave a gap at the top when you go to close it. I fit my laptop, a 11x8.5 sketchbook and a long filled plastic pencil case in it and wore it - it should be fine.

Depends on how heavy it all is. My laptop fits fine (15") but the weight of it makes me wonder if it'll give way if I put anything else in. (My laptop is really bulky though)
