I just first started to do coloring in Photoshop and this has helped me so dang much instead of just laying layers and using the brush to color. Thank you so much for the quick tips!!~

This is helping a ton, but I have a question, I'm new at this and I want to know the difference between some or all the layers. If you could tell me I would really appreciated.

Sorry for the belated reply. Yeah ... it's a little trick I learned long ago. Simple, but it goes a long way to making art look cleaner and more professional.

Thanks, Cap! You're from OMU, right? Nice to see you on dA. Photoshop's pretty convoluted. I'm sure I only know about 10% of what it can really do XD

BB,
Yup that's me... It's good to see you here as well! You've got an exceptional gallery. Nice stuff!
One thing I didn't quite understand in the tutes was how you used linear dodge... I'm in the process of finishing a piece and am working on the skin and clothes highlights and couldn't get it to work... Oh well.
Anyway, thanx for the tips and for the tutorials!
Cap

Well, the easiest way is to use the eyedropper tool to pick up your base color. Then make a new layer and set that layer to "linear dodge". Then paint on that layer. If it's too bright, you can alter the layer's opacity.

Haha. Yeah, I figured out this trick a long time ago ... because I was driven by laziness XD I couldn't believe how many people just used the paintbrush to color in the base colors. It takes way too long.

Yup, it's always nice to accumulate the best tips from many tutorials. I did that plus a lot of experimentation.

oh man that was so nice of you and that really would be accurate to say I asked my boyfriend what it was when I first wanted to try and since then ( like everybody else ) I've just been figuring it out as I go along. But I often found that the trick you have on here was something I'd always be running into. so hooray for your tutorial it is SPIFFY!

It's rather fun to figure out things on your own. I think that's why I don't usually don't read tutorials (that and I'm lazy XD). But sometimes little tips can go a long way. So the occasional tutorial I find helpful. Glad you find my tutorial useful. If you use it to color something, please send me a link so I can link back to it ^_^

I haven't drawn something all that impressive in quite some time....but I am a tutorial collector so when I see spiffy tricks I grab em' ( I.E. yours )
If I get around to doing something new I will most definitely think of you :]
