Me too, but I'm still trying to work out if it's really a problem or not.. I mean, if it helps you get through things.. So long as it doesn't get too obsessive.

Me too, ST. But if you don't let it consume you -- hah, bit hypocritical of me to say this -- it's a good thing.

Um... message me sometime if you want to talk about it, okay? I know there's always one person per secret who says this, but really... I can relate

I used to always imagine myself in the world of my favorite books, video games, cartoons, etc. when I was a kid. Now that I'm older (I'm seventeen... grah, I'm old) I'm not able to do it as much because I have soo much other crap to think about. But whenever I can,I lie down and revisit these worlds again. It helps to take my mind off of the billion things that I have to do.

I've been to Hogwarts, caught Pokemon with Ash, and lived in Arnold's town, among other things.

If there is no escape from the world, you can make it. And there is nothing wrong with that.
: )

Naivax-Maundrell [2009-04-22 05:20:21 +0000 UTC]

I whole-heartedly agree. When I read my books, I tend to get sucked into the story and it becomes so close to reality that it's scary. If only, if only.

Hey, there's pretty much nothing that's actually bad as long as it's not hurting you or anyone else, and especially as long as it's helping you. *Nods* So, have fun with it as long as it lasts. n.n Just don't let it get in the way of reality.

I live a little in reality, and a little in my own mind. It's not like I can't tell the difference. It drives me nuts when people seem to think I have trouble.

Omega23 [2009-04-22 01:14:59 +0000 UTC]

I think I might know who this is.

I can't say I'm the same way. Maybe I've lived in the real world too long to trust my characters at all. (Or even other peoples' characters) But it's nice to have something to focus on, ST. Fictional characters ARE real. Maybe not in the same way society recognizes it as, but once they're brought to life in the mind of a creator they become forever real, as full and changing as anyone living on this earth. Don't let anyone else tell you otherwise.

I know the feeling. Only thing is, they're my own "fictional characters", or people as i call them, that help me through hard times. :3 sometimes they help me when no one else can.

I am 20 years old and I believe in myths, fables, and fiction. You're never too old to believe in it. And it's not wrong to place your beliefs in something that has no hard scientific proof, or no proof at all, if it is what helps you get through the hard days.

(Off topic, but in a way, fictional characters are real because they are a part of their author.)

But that just came to me. I have a few fictional people that I hang out with on a daily basis.

I do this too ST, I honestly believe they are in some ways...because it can make dealing with situations that are hard, easier. It's like going to them for advice on how best to handle things...they can provide entertainment when you're feeling down.

Like...imaginary friends.

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

lunaticenigma [2009-04-21 18:35:30 +0000 UTC]

I don't see anything wrong with that. If they help you get through the hard times, then there isn't anything negative about them... But, if you start seeing and interacting with them on a daily basis, only to become a hermit... Well, then I think it'd be time to take counseling into consideration, heh.

That's my opinion, at least.
