Although, I do get fan-girl like...actually...not really. It's more of I get geeky over things. I don't fall in "love" with a character...I just get really geeky over the overall book/anime/manga/whatever.

You can read books and enjoy things without becoming part of the "fandom." Allowing something's popularity to ruin it is really not much different from allowing something's popularity to be the reason you like it. They both mean you care too much about what other people like and think. Just ignore everyone else and like what you like. The end.

I know what you mean sometimes, I'm a fangirl myself, and I'll admit to having been an outright f*cktard at times, but I do try to be a good example of my fandom. But yes, fangirls to gome up with scary thing to do with their favourite characters. Some of it I think is interesting or even brillient, other things make me want to gouge my eyes out.

The only thing they ruined for me was the fact that now I can't say I enjoy reading yaoi without being immediately labeled as a retarded annoying squealing girl that sees/reads nothing but that and that pairs every character with each other... There are normal people that enjoy it too...
As for the rest, I don't really care about them invading the fandoms I'm in. I have much more important things to do then to get annoyed at such silly things.

The reason I've never bothered to watch Naruto or Bleach is because they've been beaten to yaoi-desu death by hoardes of screaming fangirls.

I can understand fanfics, I mean I myself have these possible sequels going on in my head if I see a really good movie or read a great book, but for one it doesn't suddenly have every guy screwing eachother with the girls all alone, and two it has just as deep a plot as the story it came from. I got to say the fan girls ruined Twilight for me. It wasn't a fabulous book, just something I had read that was sorta okay. And then the fan girls showed up. Now there's this whole feud between the two sides. It's not that good, it's not that bad, no need to fight. It's just a book. Yeah, vampires are in, wait a year, something else will be big. You remember after Harry Potter hit big and all these wizard books showed up? Well, something else will happen. Mark my words.
I really try not to be fangirl. I like things with large fangirl bases. But still I really just like it because it's good and while I really enjoy it when I first watch it/rad it, I might get some merch, and I might recommend it to some friends of mine, I keep myself under control. When I do do fanfiction,I try my best to be true to the characters. There is a fine line between fan and fangirl and I try my best to walk it carefully.

Also, I love fan fiction that makes people a little exaggerated to make you laugh. One of my favorite fan fictions ever was a Star Wars fanfic where they were all crazy. Anakin was so stupid he got demoted to padawan, everyone kept dropping baby Luke on his head, and Padme got drunk and got up on a table to sing Gwen Stefani at a bar. XD I like stuff like that.
