Description My first deviation of October! And it's a draft for my longest current WIP.

You can't really tell it's her yet (especially since I effed up the lineart when inking) but this is Catherine Bloom (from GWing) about to make her appearance at her wedding. She's dolled up in Turkish wedding garb, slightly modified for my own style and eye. It's very muslim in basic style, though Catherine herself is not of that faith, she wears it for her heritage!

Still traveling with the circus as a "beauty" she marries a trapeze artist, who goes by the name Greek (guess what, hes from Greece) and he wears his own culture's traditional wedding dress to their ceremony. It's a very culturally diverse ceremony as they encourage everyone to wear something of their roots.

But of course, our heroine here has a bit of the cold feet before she passes through the curtain to make her way to the alter. I tried to draw her in a moment of hesitation, but her facial expression came out really blank. And her stray left arm there is supposed to be in mid-swing as she forces herself onto the red carpet. I drew the veil quite transparent to show more of her hair, both part of my modified style but also to help show it was Catherine. The cloth around her chin should actually go over all of her hair, I'm sure, but again...

I left the red sketch lines in to kind of show where some of the cloth designs would be, what it might look like, because I'm not sure if this will be colored... too many sketches on my platter right now!

But, I posted it outside of scraps because I think I put a lot of detail into this (along with one other draft version)... well, a lot of detail for me! The pose was completely free-hand, no photo references, though the outfit was pieced together from several reference images found at turkishculture.org .

If I color this I may put a few people outside the curtain, or spruce it up with some Turkish words. Who knows!

Pencil, Pen, 2 hours total.

PS> If you're all wondering why I made Catherine (and thusly, Trowa) of Turkish descent, through my research into the characters I found that they were kinda supposed to be southern/eastern European, with slightly olive skin and such, so I looked at the countries in that area, and felt Turkey was a prime choice, and a very under-represented culture in writing and art.

Very cool! Haha, I never really pictured the Blooms as Turkish, but it works somehow. Love the outfit, and the picture perfectly captures the mood you were going for.
