Description Probably like my favorite picture ever from Animazement.

And it was one of the last photos taken from the last photoshoot that this costume will see for a while. Unfortunately, it's time for me to retire this particular version of Ezio. I've worn him to every con I've been to for the past year and a half, and it's time for something new. I couldn't have thought of a better way to send him out with a bang than this.

Don't worry, I'm not done cosplaying Ezio. Just this version. Ah, I'll miss it, and all the blood, sweat, and tears that went into making it.

A Novice from Brotherhood. The one with the stripped pants

Well, my first tip is Don't be afraid of taking liberties! Some of the clothing in the games don't... really translate well into real life. So you might have to make a few modifications. Also, I would use medium to heavy weight fabrics for the main part of the costume (vest and hood) so you get them to lay right! I used twill for the white of mine, and jacquard for the lining. It's hot, but it looks nice. And you could always use a lighter weight and billowy fabric like gauze or muslin for the shirt so it counters that!

Oh wow thanks! That's some good advice that I will most definitely remember How did you learn how to sew and..learn all these different kinds of fabrics?

My grandmother taught me the basics. I kinda figured out everything else on my own through trial and error. Also, shopping for fabric helps, because you get an idea of it when you touch it and unroll it to see how it lays.

Oh that's cool. I'm still learning the basics and everything. It's hard to learn, but i'm enjoying every minute!~ Do you have any other advice or anything that could help?

demonsfearme In reply to Scarclawkat [2012-06-08 04:15:38 +0000 UTC]

Trial and Error. Haha. That was the whole thing behind mine. A lot of it was going in with an idea, and testing it to see if it worked. I also drafted my own patterns. But I'd suggest modifying one similar. Also try and find a cheap fabric to make a mock up/test version before you make your final product. Then you can always take the test version apart and use it as a pattern!

Scarclawkat In reply to demonsfearme [2012-06-08 05:38:28 +0000 UTC]

Oh I see. How do you draft your own patterns? You draw them out? I'm still abit fuzzy on making your own patterns.

demonsfearme In reply to Scarclawkat [2012-06-08 14:50:27 +0000 UTC]

Essentially. You start with a basic sketch to plan it out, and then make the real sized version on tissue paper. It helps if you're familiar with premade patterns first, for the most part, which is why I suggest modifying some very close premade patterns starting out. Simplicity has a few that are easy to work with and modify, and so does McCalls.

Scarclawkat In reply to demonsfearme [2012-06-08 22:03:22 +0000 UTC]

Oh alright. But how would the drawing look on the tissue psper? Like if I were making a shirt, would I draw out the sections of the shirt like the shirt first and then the sleeves separate?

demonsfearme In reply to Scarclawkat [2012-06-08 23:41:15 +0000 UTC]

Yes. It'd be pieced like a regular, premade pattern.
