Description Finally, my first paleoart of the year.
98% of this figure was made in November 2016. I spent ten months for the last 2%, wll that's a pretty busy year guys.

BTW, here my new restoration.
One of my favorite dinos in childhood. Such a powerful creature! A perfect balance between strength and speed.
The lion of the Jurassic era, Allosaurus fragilis.

The pattern is based on the quail one, a ground-nesting seed-eater galliformes native to Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.
I speculated a sort of mimetic livery to help the Allosaurus to elude the top view of the sauropods.

About integument: a conversation with the paleontologist Simone Maganuco points out that the fossil record is quite poor to describe a proper look. Therefore the probabilistic approach to the evolution of the integument in dinosaurs described by Cau in his Theropoda blog is a useful tool. In short, there is no heavy restriction in the representation of these creatures. A pact to maintain a scientific and rigorous approach. So here my proto-feathered furry Allosaurus. theropoda.blogspot.it/2014/07/…

About lips: I sought a solution to reconcile the skull anatomy and the need to keep the tooth enamel protected and hydrated. Even in this case we have no evidence in the fossil record, but scientifically plausible solutions can be hypothesized. Hence the partial pronouncement of the upper lips.

Thanks to Simone Maganuco and Davide Bonadonna for their useful tips.

Took heavy inspiration by the lineart made by my friend Elia

Hope you like it!

I was walking through a theme park at night, and an animatronic allosaurus I thought was switched off turned and roared at me and my dad and we both screamed like little girls! It made us think what a horror story the Jurassic would be.

Is the pattern based off owls? If so, then its name is Owlosaurus

As you can read in the description, the pattern is based on a quail.

Really cool! I love this reconstruction! But a few innacuratcies.

If I'm not blind it looks to be almost fully feathered. The arms wouldn't be feathered because a juvenile allosaurus was found with scales on the shoulder. If there was feathers on the arms, it probably would have quill structures. Concavenator had a scaly tail, so I'd imagine Allosaurus would to.

These features are resent and sense 98% of this was made in November, this shouldn't really matter. Resent Tyrannosaurid research suggests that big Theropods where just a little bit fluffy or fully scaly. Scales on tge neck, pelvis, abdomen, and tail make little room for feathers. Although it doesn't eliminate the possibility for feathers on the back, head, parts of tge neck, and very top of the tail. You might have done this, but I'm not sure. Cracked keritin on the face.

Other than those few flaws, the rest if amazing and very accurate. Great job!
