That's a very astute observation! It's been a long time since I drew this so I can't remember if I put the lines there out of artistic license or pure forgetfulness but I think it's just so that he fits better in the whole picture. Thanks for pointing it out anyway!

Actually the artist has it right.In the AA series encyclopedia,his chess board and game pieces are orignally red and white from the standard black and white.Not really meant to represent anything

Hm, weird. I was sure that it was a red and blue in Rise From the Ashes. I'm pretty sure they even said that the red pieces were "edged" and the blue ones had spiky hair, lol.

you know what,you're absolutely right.However,after playing the games to the new-ish one (that is DLC only),the chessboard colors have been changed to official white and red.Personally,I like the change.The use of a blue and red chessboard,was only used once or very few in times only to symbolize (or rather represent) the rivalry of Pheonix Wright and Miles Edgeworth.Though you are correct,the artist is correct also.
