Description I can only imagine how s Pagan would develop in My Universe™.
I tried to keep her mythology similar in certain respects to his, but I thought it would make for a more compelling story if Pagan (or here) had left the US for a while after Casey McCormick's death.
Then she returns, skilled in the arts and culture of her adopted homeland, only to find the situation worse here in the States than where she grew up.
Also, in this scenario, she can either be an Evolved, which is what she is normally thought of as, or a cryptid.
My apologies in advance, Ken, if I totally fucked up your character…

Albuquerque, New Mexico, May 3rd, 1882,
Albuquerque Journal,
Notoroius gunman, Casey McCormick, shot dead.
Hostile creature still at large.
Casey McCormick, a fugitive Confederacy officer and infamous gunman for hire, was found on the outskirts of the Mojave Desert yesterday. His body was discovered by a posse in search of the killer and his prize, a small feral creature believed to be the cause of several vicious maulings. His bullet riddled corpse was found with his horse with both of his pistols empty and small locket clutched to his chest; the creature has yet to be found, but posses from neighboring towns within De Baca County have joined together to find this menace.

Seattle, Washington, September 29th, 1929,
Seattle Times,
HERESY? HOAX??
Local dock worker is surprised by curious find.
Joshua Klipple was flabbergasted this morning when a shipping crate fresh from Japan proved heavier than it was marked. Mr. Klipple then proceeded to open the crate only to discover, in his own words, "some kinda puma girl sleepin' in da crate." No sooner did he inform his supervisor of the unusual shipment did said shipment vanish. "I ain't crazy, I tells ya!" Mr. Klipple said, "I saw it! A girl with da ears a n' tail of a big cat!!" Mr. Klipple has been recently admitted to a local sanitarium for further evaluation.

Baton Rouge, Louisiana, December 10th, 1941,
Baton Rogue Daily Reveille,
HAVE THE JAPS INVADED LOUISIANA?
Just as our boys are marching off to war by orders of President Roosevelt, an incident involving one of those boys comes in from East Baton Rogue Parish. A local man was admitted to Our Lady of the Lake Sanitarium after he sustained bites from he calls, "a really big 'gator." Mr. Andrew Marcelle was rushed to the emergency room after being attacked by what is believed to be a twenty foot or longer alligator. He was only saved by a something he claims was "not really human." Mr. Marcelle claims that his defender spoke a language what wasn't English and carried what appeared to be two very long machetes. After butchering the alligator and giving first aid to Mr. Marcelle's wounds was he then hoisted into a fireman's lift and hiked back to a country road. It was there that Sheriff's Deputy Angus Owens discovered Mr. Marcelle and called an ambulance. "I was drivin' down the road a piece," Deputy Owens recalls, "when I done saw what looked like a woman or young girl. She flags me down but just as I get there, she done runs off." Locals in the area have claimed to have seen said girl in and around the swamplands. Many describe it as a devil or demon of some sort. Details about the young woman are sketchy, at best…

New Orleans, Louisiana, April 5th, 1989,
New Orleans Times-Picayune,
BIG BATTLE IN THE BAYOU
Louisiana Cat Girl responsible for demolition of three government assets
Despite orders from President George H.W. Bush, three government assets, known as Adjudicators, went on a hunt in the Louisiana Bayou. The three units were searching for the elusive urban legend known as the Louisiana Cat Girl. Seen sparingly over the last 40 or more years, this urban legend is know proven to more than a local myth. Reports from the US Naval Research Laboratory indicate the three government sponsored robot drones found a beast that most closely resembled legendary reports of the Louisiana Cat Girl and chased it deep into the bayou. There, a brief brawl took place with all three units reported as damaged/destroyed. While Navy brass considers this an affront to their ongoing efforts to capture and/or analyze this long standing mythological being, Evolved policy experts say it is a witch hunt to flush out a peaceful and some even say benevolent bayou creature.

Little Rock, Arkansas, July 8th, 1995,
Arkansas Times
Local Police investigating attack by Adjudicators in city’s downtown
First such assault since Adjudicators were outlawed in ‘94
In a stunning display of chutzpah by the now alienated creator of the Adjudicators, Dr. Fitzroy Heinrich sent out four units to attack an Evolved presence lingering in downtown Little Rock. The attack occurred during a busy July weekday, with hundreds of office workers and shoppers milling in and out of the area. The attack was centered on a local homeless man, Patrick Dunhaven, who is a registered Evolved of the Homo Mutatis species. Mr. Dunhaven’s two pair of extra arms have given rise to his being called “Spider Guy” by local residents. The seemingly innocuous Mr. Dunhaven has been arrested before on charges of loitering and public intoxication, but only now has he ever been sought after by the newly illegal killing machines. Thankfully, Mr. Dunhaven and numerous other regular bystanders were saved by the intervention of the legendary Louisiana Cat Girl. She prevented numerous civilians from harm receiving harm by the automatons and shielded Mr. Dunhaven from the attack by engaging the machines. All four units were disabled during the skirmish and police quickly disabled the the units with Tasers and stun pistols. The whereabouts of The Louisiana Cat Girl are, as of yet, unknown.

Lampasas, Texas, November 2nd, 2003,
The Lamapasas Morning News,
Strange creature battles outlawed Adjudicators
with an assist by Lampasas' Favorite Son
Lampasas' Steppes community was rocked by laser fire and chaos when four outlawed Adjuicator units attcked a young boy believed to be an Evolved. The young man, whose name is too be protected due to his age, is believed to be a resident of the Lampasas' ethnic center. While being chased by the lethal and illegal cyborgs, another entity, believed to be an Evolved as well, stepped in to defend the boy. It is unknown if the entity was merely protecting its territory or truly defending the young man. Eyewitnesses describe the creature as being feline and potentially female. It fought of with two of the Adjudicators with a pair of Japanese style swords and several rounds with a high caliber pistol. While the female protectoress fended two of the Adjudicators, the other were handled by Moexatl Ana'Ra Rwo'tanque, who happened upon the scene during his daily constitutional. "I round the corner and what do I see but a fire team of Adjudicators roundin' on a kid and some humanoid lioness ," Lampasas' favorite son said, "I've no love for the those cloned automatons, so I came with it and handed out some whup-ass." The last machines were rendered completely inoperable by Ana'Ra's devastating psionic weapons. After the skirmish died down, the young boy was returned promptly to his mother. The female lioness, though, has yet to be found. "I donna what she was or what she was doin' here," says Steppes store owner Larry Fitzpatrick, "but she done saved a lot people today." It is a known fact that The Steppes are not only a haven for Texas' minority ethnic groups, but also home to a sizable Evolved community.

Hm, first paragraph starting with "Notorious gunman..." the sentence should read "... creature has NOT yet been found..." Otherwise it all sounds interesting. And great render too.
